Fireworks and Chilli - Our place, 1st Nov.

#1 Post by Nooj » Sat Oct 04, 2008 7:30 pm

It'll be one year since we moved in so will be a belated house warming/advanced bonfire night/general biker bash.

Basically, we'll provide the venue, a bonfire, chilli (meaty AND veggie versions), hot chocolate drinkies, secure bike parking and floor space to kip on.

You'll need to bring a beverage/herb of your choice if you want to get hammered, a sleeping bag if you're staying, AND... one firework of some kind. No firework = no food

One firework per person will mean no one has to spend a fortune and if a good few people turn up there will be a bit of veriety, unless everyone just brings sparklers, which will be crap, so use a bit of imagination

I reckon kick off will be about 7pm for setting fire to stuff, obviously don't want the exploding things going on too late so people who aren't staying get to enjoy them as well.

Our mate Slick will be doing his ACF50 anti corrosion bike treatment thing here on the Sunday, so you can hang around with a coffee and a bacon roll and watch him slaving away cleaning and spraying bikes while your hangover cures if you like.

Let us know if you're likely to turn up so we know how much chilli to make, we'll only need a couple of days' notice.

We're in Newbury, Berkshire. Anyone definitely coming, I'll PM you our full address nearer the time.

No idea about fitting another bike in for the ACF50 stuff, your mate could just turn up, but there's no guarentee there's be a space. Having said that, it's not uncommon for someone to pull out at the last minute.

Best drop him an e-mail, or book in properly through his site. If you book in, he does it so whoever has the furthest to travel home gets done first.

Going to be needing numbers pretty soon, who wants hot/mild/veggie chilli, who's staying, how many hacksaws do we need to provide, who's bringing the donor bike etc.

Well, we never managed a summer holiday, so had planned to go away half-term week (next week) .... but couldn't find anything at a sensible price .... so no holiday :smt009

That leaves me a "window of opportunity" for the chilli fireworks bash ...... but I'll have to get a pass out from the "controller of schedules and movements"

Therefore, hope to be there but will need to confirm.

I was planning on coming along

but, some one has decided that we are going shopping on that day, as they are working on sunday morning - so no pass out for me :(

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

My parents are coming up to see the little'un that weekend, so I won't be able to make it. Don't think the suggestion that they can baby-sit while I vanish for the weekend would go down too well :smt005

The ACF50 guy is based in Durham, he's just down here for the Sunday. He's fully booked here this time, but feel free to drop by and see what he does.

Damn,

I've just accepted a BBQ offer for the 1st. I knew there was a clash.

I think I'll go to the BBQ as it's less than an hours drive away.

Thanks for the offer though, hope you have a good one.

Best lock up all the tools before too many beers are consumed, god knows what might happen.
