Nice to see you're already putting the Falco to good use!
Thanks for the welcome guys, it's nice to see such a good community built around a bike. :smt003

I fully intend to put the Falco to more regular use having just moved to the Isle of Man from Reading. I won't be doing too many long distance tours (although I think I hear the Highlands calling), but I can't wait to get the bike out onto the mountain road. At the moment it's still sitting back in Reading after the weekend in France, but I'll be back over in a few weeks to ride it up to the island, after which I'll be itching to try out the local roads.

Mango - if the Fasttrack bike disappoints I can certainly vouch for the condition of the Alford Bros one having had a good look round it while the guys were fitting the brake lever. The Aprilia cans look rather neat being high level, although having had my nuts roasted in France this weekend I can't say I'd want the cans any nearer my backside as well!

Thanks for that, mate. I'd be down there like a shot if it was a bit closer. I can see me doing another 500 mille round trip to look at a bike...

Very envious of your France jaunt and probably even more envious of where you're living now! The Mountain course is tremendous (I do have a gift for stating the bleedin' obvious) and so is the coast road from Douglas to Ramsey. I think you might have a shock when you see their petrol prices though... :smt118

Depending on how the mood takes me I can use both of those routes each day as I'll be living near Ramsey and working in Douglas (not sure I'll be taking the bike every day though :smt002 ). I know what you mean about petrol, although in Douglas it's only about 3-4p a litre dearer than it was in Reading. Still, no matter how much the petrol costs I'll always take comfort from having to fill up half as often as my friend who came to France with me on his 1098 and now has an excellent knowledge of petrol stations North of Paris :smt119

Good choice; if I was to settle anywhere in the IoM it would be Ramsey. I always used to stay there (in Dolly's Guest House) when I was a TT regular back in the 80s/90s.

Happy days. One day I'll have to go back to see the old place.

PM me if you're over on the island and we could go out for a spin (if you don't mind a relatively slow novice!). I doubt that Ramsey has changed very much since you were last over, but that's all part of the island's charm!

If only I could persuade my wife away from those blasted Jap 4's I could start a Falco chapter here on the island!

Just read this post, in fact just joined the site :smt003
Don't know if you're still looking for a Falco, but I saw this one in the MCN site:

http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/bikes ... 07319&mfy=

I'd buy it if I had the money, but need to fix & sell my own VFR750 first. It looks a great buy, considering it's got a Penske rear & fork rebuild.

Anyway, good luck hunting - hope the next transaction is easier.

Rene

Hi Rene and welcome.

Hope you get that VFR sorted soon and then get an Aprilia of your own.
In the meantime enjoy the forum

Welcome Renevator. :smt001

I suspect Mango might not be too enthralled at the prospect of a return to Dunfermline to look at that one. :smt002

Cheers for comments on my bike peeps :smt001

I got all excited when jcb69 mentioned a Falco for sale with high level Aprilia cans in Alfords... I'm after the passenger pegs that go with them (have been since I got the bike) so I thought I'd take a punt and give them a call. He said he wouldn't take them off the bike to sell separately :smt009

Back to the drawing board :smt019

LOL .... suppose buying the bike and then selling it on without the pegs is out of the question :smt020

Heh, maybe keep the Oasis for posh and have the skanky Flamingo for commuting in the rain :smt004

deanw is a lead on AF1 - though I'm not sure he's prepared to split as he wants to sell the cans/pegs as a job lot. Watch this space!!

.............I did wonder if there was a connection, but as the original sale was through Ebay I thought maybe this was another - presumably he advertised it in several places.
Thanks for the welcome. Things not quite going to plan re me getting a Falco. I had the VFR sorted recently and was in a position to trade, but it's sprung a fork seal leak & the shock needs a service (again!) so I need to get it up to scratch before selling (don't like to sell a duff bike) - and by then no doubt my money would have been nicked by some bill or other :smt009

Indeed. You suspect correctly... If I returned to Dunfermline I'd have vengeance on my mind...

Hi Rene, and welcome to another VFR owner looking for a Falco! What model is your VFR? I'd actually already followed up the 'other' Dunfermline Falco, but it's been sold. I take it you're looking for a Falco at a dealership, as I'm guessing you want to PX the VFR?
