A Chance To Give Your Views - SAFERIDER

#1 Post by D-Rider » Thu Jul 31, 2008 12:52 pm

The EU SAFERIDER project is investigating technology that may be applied to bikes in the interests of rider assistance and safety .
Whether or not we want more bits of technology on our bikes, we have to open our eyes to the fact that it is coming.

The good news is that WE have an opportunity to influence what is introduced.

The (bike riding) wife of a (bike riding) colleague at work is involved in this SAFERIDER project and is keen that as many bikers as possible give their views via the on-line questionnaire.

I've given my comments - please add yours. Please be open minded to the potential benefits as well as showing which things you really wouldn't want or be prepared to pay for.

The questionnaire can be found HERE

and more info about SAFERIDER HERE

SAFERIDER Project needs your help ……

It’s a EU project under the 7th Framework investigating the potential of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and In-Vehicle Information Systems (IVIS) to improve rider safety and comfort. Further details about the project and these devices, can be found at www.saferider-eu.org or the attached pdf.

The project proposes technical solutions to enhance the safety level of riders and their comfort, according to the view of the scientific community. However, the consortium acknowledges the fundamental importance of the consumer to achieve wide acceptance and implementation. For this reason, this survey has been set up to identify riders' wants and needs in terms of potential safety devices in the very early stage of the project.

MIRA are project managing 2 work packages of the project. The ADAS applications where we are developing the Speed Alert function and all the Application Integration, where we will be running 2 motorcycles around our track and having testers give there opinions on the functions we manage to integrate! From this the consortium will be able to estimate the safety impact and user acceptance of the concepts and develop design guidelines for manufacturers.

We would be grateful if you could spend some of your time to fill in this survey (which should take no more than 15 minutes). Please forward this to any one you know would be interested.
Thanks for your support

well I've asked. I don't think they will listen to us.

IMO the sooner we leave the EU the better, at least then we can ride our overpowered bikes.

Sorry I have stopped wasting my time filling in questionnaires and signing petitions, none of it makes any difference.

I'd rather spend my time riding as much as I can before it becomes so hedged about with 'protection' and 'prevention' that it's simply not worth doing.

I'd want it if its linked to live cameras/mobile units :smt003

I was a bit pee'd off with the repetition of the number of questions :smt018

Completed, I don't think we'll get what we want tho, they have yet to listen even once.
