Surge Protection - Has It Worked ?

#1 Post by Fausto » Thu May 29, 2008 3:40 pm

After the recent dramatic electrical storms my internet connection was down so I did the usual checks and discovered the following...

The phones still work in all the house sockets and filters.
So does the broadband.
But neither now work plugged through the phone line sockets on my Belkin surge protector.

Am I to assume that it is 'broken'?
Is this because it did it's job and protected my router/computer from a lightning strike?
Are they 'once only' things and I now need a new one ?

It only seems to be the phone line element that's broken. It still works for the power sockets.

I've got a couple like that with just the phoneline blown, one a Belkin.
Keep meaning to look for a phoneline only protector
I do remember in pro-pooter days I once fried a fish tank when the surge went thro an answerphone connected to a twin socket with the tank on the other plug.
