To be fair though it was a bit short notice for this weekends race.

Does seem a bit harsh considering the racing has been much closer than the championship standings seem to suggest. Everyone seems to be looking at the two Superbike series' and jumping on the "Ducati have an unfair advantage" bandwagon just because the table is topped by a Ducati, nothing to do with the fact that the leading riders are in that posistion because they are showing extremely good and consistent form.

Downright out of order I reckon.

Whingers - reckon they didn't know the weight limits could change .... must be the only people on the planet to have escaped that possibility :smt020

Yeah... but 10kgs in one go? How can they dramatically affect the bike like that and give the team no testing time?

I think they have a very valid point - the substance of the results do not warrant the penalty. If Sykes' engine had not blown up at Brands, or Haslam-halfwit had not taken Sykes out in Oulton and got himself disqualified, or if Cruthlow was fully fit, or if the HM Plant Honda was more reliable... etc etc... then Ducati would not have the lead they do. At Oulton, Shakey was 7th after running off but came first 'cos everyone else binned it - I think the only riders he passed to get to first was his teammate and Crutchlow? (might be wrong about that though)

Maybe BSB should be renamed BSBRC.

I think they've got a point, maybe the rules should be fixed - but they should apply equally to everyone (same weight, same capacity etc). They didn't mind whingeing to get the rules changed so they could use a larger capacity for twins... (albeit with a bit more notice).

Then if you want a twin over an IL4, you need to make it work within the rules. There wouldn't even be a discussion over handicapping the Ducatis if they hadn't bitched to get a capacity hike for themselves. I may be missing the point (probably), but if the rules are the same for everyone, there's no arguments available to anyone?

Yeh but the rules have always allowed bigger twins than IL4s, so I tend to agree with Styltiz, 10Kg is a big jump in one go with little notice.
We had 748 Dukes against 600 IL4s in the past and 998 Dukes against 750 IL4s.
V/Twins, as we know, will never have the revs to match a race tuned IL4 size for size, which means they cannot make the same power on the track where low down torque counts for less. Antway it's nice to have a mixture of different bike formats.
Bring on the 1100 trumpet triples as well just for Gio, (and the rest of us!).
Anybody still off to Donnington? :smt017
Should be a good show with no Ducatis and just exploding IL4s, anybody who finishes should have a chance.
Could even be a win for my old mate Karl Harris on the R1 if there are no low flying bikes around. :smt003 :smt003

"However, the real joke here is that last October, we, on behalf of Ducati, requested the use of non-production pistons on safety grounds to use in this years BSB Championship, and that request was completely thrown out by ALL the teams racing four cylinder motorcycles. Now, just over six months later, those same teams are demanding rule changes to allow non-standard engine parts to be fitted on safety grounds! I would suggest that their time would be better spent concentrating on producing fast, but reliable race bikes, rather than constantly whingeing to the race organisers to vary the technical rules."

Theyre all whinging so and so's.

Streetbikes, tape the lights up, fit a racecan and airfilter, get on it.

Cant stand the politics of racing. It's a sport. It may indeed be a moneyspinner, but..it's..well..just a game..

I was surprised to see them on the front row after this thread. :smt003

So they add 5KG's and Shakey still does the double - read into that what you will.

Bummer. I changed my fantasy teams because of this and they still run anyway. Dropped a load of places because of it :smt013
