Beware Box Hill

#1 Post by Thumper » Fri May 09, 2008 8:30 am

I never normally visit this place but stopped with a friend to admire the bikes over the bank holiday weekend on (Monday) the way home from a ride.
I left my bike in the overflow bike park and was gone for around an hour didn't notice anything amiss on my return but next day I unexpectedly ran short of fuel and had to fill up sooner than expected. :smt017
I had ridden around 70 miles and noticed the fuel light on again strange :smt012 It was only then I noticed a drizzle of fuel coming from the near side frame before I could stop safely it turned into a gush and fuel was all but gone again.
On inspection I found the fuel line detached at the fuel line quick connector. :smt017 Now this was the first time in 6 long years I had this problem the line has not been broken in 20k miles so I have concluded that some bastard either knicked fuel or interfered with it at box hill as this was the only place the bike has been left untended in a long time. :smt012
Always expect the unexpected

Bugger! I guess anywhere with loads of bikes could be vulnerable - and BH weekend even more so :smt009

Doubles the value of my bike when I fill up these days. :smt002

Minefield would be a better idea, I'm sure Kwack can sort something out :smt003
