Newark Meet in March

#17 Post by HowardQ » Sun Jan 21, 2007 10:04 pm

What does everybody want to do when we get to Newark?
I was thinking about a run out through Gainsborough and then to Willingham Woods, (just outside Market Raisen for those who don't know it). http://www.first4gear.com/bikemeets/willingham.html
I go there quite regularly and hardly ever see another Falco and there are always people noseying around mine, (some of 'em wondering what it is!), be great to roll up with 10 or 12 Falcos together!
Really depends how much time peolpe have got, but would be a shame not to have a bit of a run and you always get a fair number of bikes at Willingham.
What do the rest of you think?

hardly ever see another Falco...

I'm a regular visitor to willingham Howard,...mostly wednesday eve...I spotted Loafersmate there last year.
if you time it right for a meet ...there are other regular bike nights in lincoln ....two venues in one night :smt002

here's a site for lincs bike nights (not yet updated for 2007 but you get the idea)
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/toastywith ... nights.htm

Two Falco's in my family means i'll be there :smt007

hope this bloody link works :smt017

Run to Willingham Woods sounds great. Never been there yet and it will be a great circular route back home for me...so it gets my vote.

How to find the Castle Barge Pub at Newark-on-Trent

#23 Post by HowardQ » Mon Jan 22, 2007 10:32 pm

Got a nasty feeling we might be snowed in by then, but just in case we aren't, this is how to find the Castle Barge at Newark-on-Trent.
Just so anybody thinking of coming knows how to find it.
The first map link shows the general approach from the A1 / A46 / A617 / A17 etc..
http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi? ... cale=50000
The next link shows a close up of the area near the river.
http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi? ... imap.y=136
As shown on the map, come over the bridge from the left and turn first left into the car park towards the barge.
The final link is to the Castle Barge Website, which has aerial views.
http://www.castlebarge.co.uk/
Click on the picture to open site, then click the "Where we are" button", to see detail map and satellite photos.

Thing is with a smaller, single day meet up, we can always put it back if the weather looks like being crap, not as easy if people have booked rooms for a weekend away.
Although the obvious downside is that only relatively local people will be able to do it.

For one day only the meet up will be fine. We dont have to go for a run (unless you really want to)
We could kick each others tyres and eat lots. From what you all say.. we are all a bunch
of fat fuckers anyway (me included) :smt117 . No beer though as we all are riding :smt011 :smt009

Not really bothered as its a ride out to get there. Willingham woods does look good and there are enough of us within striking distance to meet up there fairly frequently I would have thought.

Anyway - not fussed either way.

If the weather is OK , count me in. Its about 60 miles to Newark for me, but I've heard about Willingham woods and want to check it out for some Weds night runs with my other mates.

But the weather will have to be good mind!! I don't do cold / wet / salty roads etc... :smt018
