Getting back to the Benelli, talking to my friends to get their views; they reckon that its worth putting up with the faults as they always get sorted and they are great to ride and got a lot of attention. Got to be worth a test ride.

Yes, got to be worth a test ride.

I did read that Benelli's new owners have been pumping money in to solve quality issues and update bikes. I also read that the importer is spending a lot of time with each bike to make sure it's a goodun before it goes to the dealer.

How effective all this has been so far, I've no idea ... but no harm in looking and asking questions of the dealer.

Wrong, its on the outskirts and is a city in its own right.

It's just off the Via Tuscolana, well within the city limits.
Check out Google Earth, you can see Ben Hur's chariot.

a cathedral
a university

Thought it was just the Cathedral - St.Davids doesn't have a University.

I think that there are a few modern Cities that don't have Cathedrals though - think the Government have something to do with it ... probably something like they tell HRH and she issues a royal proclamation or some such thing ...

As I said earlier, got to be worth a look, although personally I've always had a thing for the Tornado, but they both are very "different" and still Italian. Get on the blower and see if you can blag a decent test drive, an hour minimum, 2 plus would be nicer, and then make your mind up.

Tell 'em your local BMW dealer has offered you a whole afternoon test drive on a, (more expensive), K1200S.
Then if you've got that far, haggle like hell and get them down to a good enough price, so you can keep the Falco as well

Seriously, this is any dealer's quietest time of the year and you will be surprised how far you can push them on the test drive and the deal.
I have done absolutely ridiculous deals around Christmas on cars and bikes. It's now my favourite time to buy.

Most BMW sellers will let you take a bike for the half day,m when I got my GS I went out for 5 hours.

Truimph dealers are pretty good on test rides too. I got one for a whole day but then managed to find a diesel patch and put it down the road. Cost me the £600 excess. Make sure you know what you are signing for on the disclaimer before you take it out.

I know that Gio, that's why I chose a BM as an example to try and blag a TNT test ride.
BMW have always been really good in that respect.
