Hosepipe ban

Ours was lifted today

About bloody time as well, all the local rivers/resevoirs have been at their highest level for about 5 weeks. My garden is like pudding its so wet.

So why do you need the hosepipe ban lifted?

Or rather, what's the benefit of the ban being lifted? You know they'll slap it back on as soon as you need the hosepipe...

I can wash the bike properly (and not use as much water either)

Apparently you can wash your engine but not the frame

I just park mine next to the pond whilst keeping the fish happy.

We are short of water because the privatised water boards won't increase or maintain storage capacity in line with the population and because it cost them. Better to get everyone on a water meter and steadily increase prices, low overheads big profit nice business

I'm on a water meter, best thing we ever did, our water rates are less than our old houses and this house is a lot bigger.

I can see how the size of your household - ie number of persons - would affect your water usage - but not the size of the house!

I don't know, but I'm glad I have it at the moment.

I used to think, ' I'm glad we only have water rates, look at all those people who spend a fortune because of meters'. I never believed them when they said we pay less.

For example, our water rates came to £320 last year, thats for 4 people, we use a dishwasher on average 1.5 times a day, the washing machine is used every day, 2 kids at home who think that they can spend 30 minutes in the shower. Lots of water being used.

Then there's the cars, bikes and van, all washed a minimum of once a week and as much as 3 times (obviously this all depends on how crap the weather is).

Then there's the garden.

Bargain IMO
