That's good to hear! Really surprised 'we' managed to beat Japan as far as the fuel cell goes. Youd have thought they'd have done that.

The idea is good but doesnt it somewhat rip the whole heart and soul out of motorcycling? Might as well have a pushbike :smt099

Well I suppose you can equip it with some sort of engine sound generator - though we have mixed attitudes to that dont we? I use moulded ear plugs so I get the lowest noise level I can, yet my reaction to this bike was instantly that it would be no fun with a noiseless electric motor.

My automatic reaction was that motorcyclists will be even more invisible, I expect its a good way to keep populations under control though, as those bad motorcyclists are just speed demons :smt013 .

I'd rather cut my throat that ride a piece of crap like that.

I share the concern that quieter bikes increase danger (for ourselves and other vulnerable road users) but that's just another problem to solve rather than a cause to dismiss the whole technology.
I certainly think things like the Suzuki Fuel-cell bike can address part of the powered 2-wheeler market and when developed more, will have wider appeal. I'd certainly sooner ride a fuel cell bike than no bike at all.
In the '80s I was involved in research on electric vehicles and electric motors do have some some significant advantages For example, DC series motors have amazing torque at low revs.
We all love our internal combustion engines that have benefited from more than 100 years of development. OK, Batteries and Electric motors have been about for longer and the Fuel-cell itself was invented in 1839 - but they have not benefited from anything like the same level of development for this application - give them time .....

Anyway, I'll try to have a bit of a look at the Suzuki in Tokyo next Saturday
