Old member of RS in hospital

#1 Post by Trumpeteer » Fri Aug 24, 2007 3:52 pm

Highside (Darren) is currently in hospital recovering from surgery to cure the effects of his Chrons disease.
For many years he was an active member of RS, indeed one of the formative group, and for a while organised many successful and enjoyable rallys.

He has suffered for years with this disease and I dont believe we have ever heard hin complain, except to apologise for not being able to attend certain events (even though he has lost about 5 stone over recent years)

Perhaps those remembering him will visit TS and contribute to his get well messages and if they want to go a stage further PM "Burty" on that site for more personal details.

If you have any reticence to visit TS PM me and I can fill you in.

Good - 'cos I had no idea what it was all about ..... and it didn't sound good ...

Well I don't know Highside but I certainly wish him all the best and hope things work out for him in the best possible way.

.... not come across Torquesite either .... I really must get out more (or is that stay in more on the PC)

For those that might not know Highside, he was one of the founding members of RS, waay back. A few of the RS regulars (then and now) will have known him since before that time, anyone involved in RIOT will also have met him I am sure. I think I've known him since about 2000, and in that time he has been mostly quite ill. The Chrons diagnosis took some time, if I recall correctly it was discounted for at least 18 months, and he has suffered quite badly over the years, with good periods and less good periods.

Now after all this time, Highside has been admitted to hospital for surgery he was told that it is far from straghtforward. So it's all fingers crossed, that it helps his condition.

We were planning to purchase a small gift, as a token of our good wishes. Actually probably a few small gifts. So if anyone is interested in donating a few quid then they can PM me, here or on Torquesite.

Hiya to all of you :smt006 Thanks very much for the good wishes you are sending Darren, I have been passing them on to him. Its been a bit of a stressful time but on the plus side it is nice to hear from so many people we haven't heard from in a while. :smt001 He is recovering ok, still a bit tender but getting there. Hopefully he will be home tomorrow so I am prepared to be waiting on him hand and foot!! Hope everyone is ok and hugs to all of you who want them. :smt002
