MCRCB Press Release
20 July 2007 - Issued 15:30
During the Bennetts British Superbike Championship first free practice at Mallory Park, an incident occurred at the Esses section of the circuit.
The rider involved was Ollie Bridewell.
Initial evidence shows that he lost control and fell from his machine making a heavy impact with the surface and then the Recticel “type A” protective barrier. He sustained critical head and neck injuries. He was treated initially at trackside and then at the circuit medical centre by the BSB Medical Team, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The incident is being fully investigated by the MCRCB and the relevant authorities.
On behalf of MCRCB Events and the BSB community we extend our profound sympathies.
Stuart Higgs / Toby Branfoot, FRCSEd (Tr & Orth)

RIP Ollie

Like you Tim, I am also almost in disbelief at this loss
A brilliant rider, I had him tipped for greater things
A tragic loss and another reminder of how dangerous this sport is

I feel for his Brother and family. What a loss. The paddock will be silent tonight.

It wasnt until both of them qualified next to each other before it clicked that there were 2 bridewells
, then ollie went on and got a good few minutes of tv coverage full of complements of his position on a underpowered bike.
Motorsport is dangerous just like the signs tell you, but i bet he was enjoying it.

Rip Ollie.
Says something for todays saftey standards that we are so stunned when someone is killed.
The tragedy of old age is not that one is old, but that one is young.
