Hi all. Thinking of returning to 2 wheels after a 15 year lay off. 56 years young now. Last bikes, had them both at the same time, were a TL1000r and a Falco. Bought the Falco from a mate who I worked with at Motorola in East Kilbride. He was moving to America and I got it at a great price. Plan was to sell the TL and run the Falco but at the time, as good as it was, I felt the Falco was a bit too soft for me so sold it on. It was less than a year old at the time. Black and Bronze, quill cans...........what a noise! Anyhow, 15 years on and something has triggered bikes in me again. I think the Falco may now be the ideal bike for me. Are there any members near East Kilbride that I could meet up with and sling a leg over one again to see if I can actually fit it comfortably. I'm older and wiser but also crumblier I cycle a lot on a road bike so it shouldn't really be a problem. Unfortunately there aren't many for sale and they're all down south

Hi again. Sorry I've just spotted your message. I don't think I've got my settings correct as I've not had alert to say there were any replies. Anyhow, bought a red and black, 2005 with 17,000 on the clock. Hopefully it's arriving by courier from Leicester on Friday. Can't wait!!!

Very shiny Falco! I like it a lot.

Now, get rid of those ugly boat-anchor exhausts cans and, upgrade the blue-spring rear shock (it it's still there) and get riding!

There are so many things you can do to the Falco to make it better - just ask the experts here or trawl through the forum looking for ideas.

So I've done nearly 1000 miles on it so far and love it. After a 15 year lay off it's taken me that mileage to feel comfortable riding again. As for the cans I originally thought I wouldn't bother changing them but now I think I will. Probably wait till it's off the road in winter. Had Quill cans on my last Falco and they sounded amazing!!! I have a question though..........should I be replace the EPROM if I change the cans? I'll need to pull the ECU out first though and check to see what's in it at the moment. It has a K and N filter in it so it's possible it's been changed already.

I'd check first to see what EPROM you already have fitted, but with Quill cans and K&Ns it would be wise to acquire a chip to suit. Gabro's chips come highly recommended and will make your Falco much nicer to ride, as well as optimising performance. Ideally I'd get the CO levels checked and throttle bodies synchronised at the same time. Do you know any Aprilia specialists north of the border who could do this?

Sorry for late response. Checked the EPROM yesterday. I think it's standard. Was thinking of maybe a Forza chip from AP workshops. Thoughts on these chips?

Not looked into an Aprilia specialist up here. I'll need to have a wee look. I'm handy at spannering though so probably have a look at what's involved in syncing. My local bike MOT garage would be able to set the CO levels I think.

Just had a look at the synchronization procedure and maybe it's something best left to someone who knows what they're doing! What would be the typical cost of getting all that done after chip, cans and filter swap?

Yes, I think that is the standard chip. I have a Forza chip on my Falco and it's great. I asked for a custom chip to go with my custom exhaust and AP workshops airbox mod and it works brilliantly.

As for T/B sync and CO level setting, I had that done at AP workshops in Tamworth and it set me back between £50 and £100 as I recall, But it was 2 or 3 years ago, so it probably needs booking in again for a check up.

Thanks for the info. Will look into getting it set up. Was initially going to go for Quill cans as my first Falco has them but I've also seen Black Widow cans. Any experience of these?
