Well apart from I've bought a colour coordinated oberon slave which should be here sometime this week.
The falco is coming back out next year after 12months in storage. Should be fun.
I've had some oz wheels powder coated and fitted to the falco. I'm looking forward to riding it again.

I thought you had a choice of Falcos, Jay. Or have you slimmed down the collection? I initially thought having two Falcos would be great, but I gradually realised that unless one was specifically for track and the other for road use, the temptation to try and get them to an identical spec was really hard work. And if they were at a different spec, you'd always have a favourite that you preferred using.
So now I've just got the one and things are much simpler.

When I was taking the OE tank off the bike I had look at the front bracket, and wondered about getting it re-made but with a better design. The bracket is way longer than it needs to be, which means it only just clears the top yoke when taking it off and you can't use any of the available adjustment as it would only be of use if the tank had shrunk, not expanded.
I only gave it a cursory glance, but it just looks to be a piece of stamped metal with cutouts. It would be a complicated shape to try and make, but might be amenable to modification. If the worst happened, the part (AP8121386) is only £13.19 + VAT according to Ultimate parts (assuming it's still available, of course)...

Here is some food for thought.
I've been mainly using Esso premium fuel this year after hearing that it is one of the few that doesn't contain ethanol. Went to lift the tank up last week and I was surprised to find that I now have about 3mm clearance on each side between the tank bracket and the top yokes.
Previously, I had to have the bars in exactly the straight ahead and even then the bracket would scrape.
I'm a bit of a fiddler so have had the tank on and off quite a bit since I've owned the bike and it's always been a struggle, but not anymore!

Interesting.. I wonder if the one that's been up in my garage roof for two years has shrunk down at all.Karmakanik wrote:Here is some food for thought.

I was just trawling through my hard drive tonight when I chanced upon a PDF entitled 'Marzocchi Fork Manual' and thought of you. It gives a pretty comprehensive strip down and rebuild procedure, although it does seem to make light of opening up the cartridges - it all appears very straightforward in the manual. If you want to PM me your email address I'll send it off to you - may be of some use.spiderwheels wrote:There was I, hoping for a nice write up on servicing the Marzocchis! The last forks I stripped down were from a 250LC over 20 years ago

But one is smashed up and the other a cat b which will eventually be a track bike.
The smashed up one is going to be a donor bike for my mates Falco, i.e radiators and foot pegs.
Someone took him out on a roundabout earlier this year and drove off.
It's mainly cosmetic damage.

Precisely why I get very pissed off when people talk of chopping up perfectly good fairings to make sit-up-and-beg Falcos.mangocrazy wrote: I can see there being a real shortage of panels before long, if there isn't one already.
