I was thinking.

Ridersite is predominantly Falco oriented.

There can't be many more than 6 or 7 regular contributors.

That's it, that's what I was thinking.

Oh, I was also thinking about thinning the 'herd' a bit and getting a V4 Tuono, then I remembered that I've almost got nothing else to lay out - other than time - on the RSV-R motor transplant which I'm guessing will probably equal the grin factor of the V4. So I probably won't.

Who'd want some dirty stinkwheels anyway . lol ..

One's own Falco is still currently out of action, the RC8 coming into play when conditions allow.
Here is a snippet from the KTM forum from an owner of an RSV4 and an RC8R, he said things only get interesting on the V4 in the upper rev range, the V twins deliver grunt from the off....

I love my RC8, like a refined Falco, I also love the Falco for its simply brutal power delivery !
I also thought about a TuonoV4, glad I didn't now.
I think you will be rather pleased RSV lump, although I don't envy you your injury,hopefully you and the project will be mended when we get to the better end of winter.

Currently trying to decide whether to get a Superduke GT. Took one out at the weekend and twas very nice. Great wind protection and (very smooth) V-twin action.

Had heated seats too...

KTM are certainly making significant inroads into just about every area of the bike market. At least 2 members of this forum (myself and fatboy) have some orange in our life and both of us are very happy with our choice.

Heated seats! That must be very tempting for a long-distance commuter like yourself...

Can I just mention that there were snow storms between Oxford and London this morning?
I thought I'd better 'cos the poxy weather forecasters didn't think to mention it...

TBH Katie, anything that keeps a rider warm and comfy is a safety plus.
The colder you become slower your reactions are. Grim but true.
As you do all weather hard bastard mega commutes, heated everything makes sense for you.
Doing your mileage you gotta have the right ride !
I will try not to feel too much of a wimp as I jump into the car tomorrow morning.....

Sorry Greg, but if you're thinning it out, i'll be fattening it up! Bought a Falco in May, spent until November riding it so now it's tucked up for the winter it's fetling time, so expect lots of dumb questions

Today I was screwing my courage up into a little ball, and doing the valve clearances on the Falco. Two out of the eight clearances were marginally tight (both on inlet valves) - 0.11mm as opposed to the specified 0.12 - 0.17mm. This was after just over 10,000 miles from new, which surprised me.

When I checked my notes from when I did the (ex) Blue Falco's valve clearances, the pattern was exactly the same. Both inlet valves nearest the camwheels were fractionally tight, and both by the same amount (0.11 mm). The only difference was the Blue Falco had done over 30,000 miles...

Anyway, shims are on order from Griff and I'll be cracking on with it when they arrive.

The Falco doesn't really get as much attention at the moment which is true.

However, RS isn't just about the Falco but an open group but with unlimited access to its members of the technical know-how of such a brilliant underrated bike.

Having not ridden my Falco for two years its time to see her back out on the road this year.

I'm lucky to own numerous bikes including a Mille R track bike and a futura which I went to Scotland on last year.

I've got a close friend into riding a Falco by conning him into riding my bike back from an MOT. I got him to take my c90 there then just rode off on my cub lol. leaving the keys in the Falco, The biggest bike he had ridden was a 600 until having a go on the Falco.

He did admit the Falco was just something else, and nothing like he had expected with the amount of torque.

I purchased a Falco last year that without of intervention would have been broken up. This is the third Falco that I have rescued and got back on the road.

Sprag and clutch were changed and he loves the bike so much he even paid for a paint job and rode it to Scotland the same time I took the futura.

With the age of the Falco increasing and the last ones built in 2004/2005, the shame is more will age and be scrapped and broken up. Or just not ridden.

I do believe that this group will still be open for many years to come, even if just for the technical know-how of the Falco and chat about other bikes we own and have ridden.

On a final note. I have met some wonderful people from Ridersite who I know will be life long friends.

Well my Falc is still waiting for attention, I still do not know what caused the clutch problem that locked the pushrod up and chewed through the diaphram plates, all parts now sourced but a little scared of a repeat scenario...
There is a possibility that the Falc may be exported to Jamaica ! Dude I work with loves it, pestering me to sell and he lives over there when he's not here . he also loves his classic lorries,and has exported a few as and when he can afford.
KTM mostly in the shed at the mo, shiny stuff slowly being added, it's outings are becoming more frequent as winter loosens it's grip but....
Ridersite is here 365, regardless of the bloody weather
