Well not having looked at what's about in that kind of bike for a long time, I had a bit of a rummage around the interweb thingy and I have to say, if that's the kind of money you'd pay then a Viagra is about what you'll get (unless you want a Chines 125)
That's gotta tell you something hasn't it?

Some reason? The dawning of maturity and common sense maybe? We all go through it as we grow up - well most of us do.squadron Nero wrote:But for some reason I'm currently the winning bidder on a Yamaha virago 1100. Not long left and I think I might end up winning it.
I like the look of them and always fancied a bobber / cruiser style bike. These days it seems every time I get on the Falco I end up doing silly speeds and spending a lot of the time only on one wheel. I'm hoping this will reconnect me with the joy of riding without the need to treat the roads like a race track.
Mart, if I win it you'll have to let me into the shaft drive club 😉👌
Personally I wouldnt chose a Virago but I have swapped bikes several times in an effort to make my speeds more sensible.

So at what age am I going to get these odd cravings for a virago?lazarus wrote:

God help us all if the dawning of maturity and common sense equals a Virago. I'm thinking of reducing the speeds I travel at, by possibly purchasing one of these in the next year or so:

I'd say that's an eminently sensible option... 70bhp and 150 kg. What's not to like?

DONT BUY A VIRAGO,!
I had a stupid moment of madness and bought a xvs1100 (quite similar) ,had it for 6 months and put 400 miles on it,,,,,,now everyone that knows me will tell you I normally do that on a weekend,,,,I hated it THAT much.
Slow ,cumbersome and not very comfy, actually made me NOT want to get out on it.(oh,,,but it did look quite good)
So I chopped it in and got a ZRX1200R,,,,,and,,,,,,I'm back in the game,,back to enjoying riding again..
All this of course IMO

I'm still tempted by a cruiser but now I'm thinking of saving the money and maybe a little more over the winter months and buying a V4 tuono aprc in time for next season. However her indoors is looking at new houses and seems keen for us to move, probably before christmas so the money may end up going towards that.

They seem to have come down considerable in price recently. You can pick one up for 6k now.
At the time I started this thread I only had about 1500 burning a hole in my pocket but since then Ive sold one of my cars and put a few quid more in the savings jar. There doesn't seem much point in buying a bike at this time of year unless you want to ride all year round, which I don't. I'm thinking by the time we get to March next year I could probably get the pot big enough to get a decent low milage V4. My long term plan would be to keep that for a couple of years then trade it in for a used 1199 or 1299 paginale, depending on values and how much spare cash I've got at that point.
