Put a set of nice shiny and noisy cans on the bike a bit back and took a lot of care to get them nice and evenly spaced and level.

Then did the unthinkable, didn't have a quick shake down run and check!

So the left can has been smashing the swing arm and has gouged a significant chunk out of it.

Thankfully I noticed it as I was just about to head down to Norwich to see the kids, getting the train now.

It probably would have been fine, but the consequences of it collapsing don't bear to think about.

So who in the Norwich area is likely to have a spare one and the special tool for removing it, hmmm?

Don't have a spare swing arm but do have the tool.....

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Do have a spare Falco swinging arm .... but don't live near Norwich .... and I think I might have lent my tool out.

I feel your pain.

Is there a carbon fibre cover somewhere maybe is or the damage too significant for that?

I'll be on the train to Norwich area tomorrow and I'll try to make some arrangements.

Frank, it may not be an issue, but the damage appears bad and I'm not comfortable riding it. I locked the bike away in disgust last night, I'll get pics next week.

I have a spare in good condition. I'm a long way from you but if you're interested can send it via next day courier.

Thanks Frank I saw that and discounted it.

And thanks Nero, I'm working with d-rider on a spare, but I'll bear your offer in mind if it doesn't transpire.

No worries - more important that you got sorted...

I did think for a second about changing to an RSV arm as they do look good but when there is little to be gained in performance.

No worries the noo (doing my best to make you feel at home with the Aussie-Scotts phraseology)

The courier picked it up this morning.

Got to my mates last night to prep her garage for the impending swingarm swap and had my 1st look at D-Riders swingarm, thanks again mate.

Looks good mate, One of the ball bearings was reluctant to move at first, but seems to be running ok now, I'll pull the needles out, clean, regrease and refit since it's reasonably easy, but the balls will stay in.

Pete, apologies again for the fuck up, but ex-wives are a law unto themselves, managed to get a tool from Amazon delivered the next day.

Bought yet another set of tools and torque wrench from screwfix and if I ever drag my sorry arse out of this café I might even make a start today.

Again my thanks to all involved either directly or by way of offer :smt008
