An early finish today and an unexpected day off tomorrow

sometimes other peoples incompetence pays off

I wish I had working days like that, other peoples incompetance usually mean more work for me so I'll take a beer off ya !

Usually does for me too but this time they've screwed up the delivery dates so I'm stuck with no trusses until Monday now. Enjoy the beer

How longs a piece of string? Depends on everything from size, internal / external, quality of the doors, ironmongery, hardwood / softwood etc.

Like most things, you get what you pay for. Although price is never a guarantee of quality either. I get people phoning me all the time and they want me to boj something up cheaply because they don't want to pay out for the correct fix. I won't do it anymore. It's not worth the hassle for me or the customer.
I've also been told by a few that I'm too expensive. Joe bloggs down the road can do it for half that etc etc. I tell people I charge a fair price for a good job. I ask them why they assume I'm in the wrong for quoting a higher price and maybe they should consider that their mates mate that will do it for a fraction of the price maybe cutting corners and using inferior materials in order to keep the price low. I took the decision some time ago that I would develop my business as a premium service. Using only high quality materials and products. I wanted it to be hassle free for the client. So far it's working well. I very rarely get a call back to say there is a problem with something. I get a lot of calls from previous customers wanting more work and a lot of new customers saying I've been recommended by previous customers.

Anyway I'm waffling now. Who's getting excited over TRUSSES!?!?

Sounds like a bloody good work ethic to me ! Why do a half arsed job that you know wont last ? I would not do it on my bike or car and I simply would not do it for anyone else.
There may be a little dissapiontment to find out you were talking about roof trusses rather than the other sort of trusses that may smell of wee
