Losing drive..

Just passing 7000rpm in second, expecting the front to lift under power, and the whole bike shudders as if something is slipping. Try it again and the same thing happens..

I'd been messing with the clutch slave a couple of days ago so maybe it's the clutch but it doesn't really feel like that. It's almost like the chain is jumping off the sprockets but that's not possible..

Unless the rear sprocket is shredded, of course:

And I know the wheel is filthy but I had to ride through a flood on the way back from London at 2am Saturday morning...

Ah yes ..... the slipper-clutch is not enough for some people - great installation of the slipper-drive system.

Not quite up to the Futura pipe-n-slipper system but not bad.

Possibly.. it only jumps near peak power, still entirely usable when 'sensible'..

How does a sprocket every get to that condition? It should probably have been changed 5000 miles ago.

According to the receipts it was new on less than 10K ago and so I wouldn't have expected it to disintegrate. The chain is ok. I suspect jonnie is correct with the swiss cheese and it does have a renthal sticker..

I did 20k on a Talon from messrs Aprilia Performance and it would probably have done another 10k or so but I always change chain and sprockets together

You'd be shocked how quickly the 30 quid chain on my commuter bike is wearing out. Or maybe you wouldn't...

That is the worst I've ever seen. Didn't you notice it when you oiled or adjusted the chain, or changed the tires?

I reckon on 20,000 miles from chain and sprockets and even then they are only slightly hooked. Using a Scotoiler mind.

All the teeth were there when I did the tyres before the track day. And still there last time I did the chain and didn't look hooked
