Thats what I thought. No breather pipe so no worries there!
I'll try and get Falcoholic to bring his bike round and we can swap one part at a time until we find the culprit.
Thats the theory anyway

Start by swapping the bike with him - should solve your problem - easy!

Even better - this'll cure Mellow of his yellow addiction and as you'll not be able to stand it, you're bound to respray it - another yellow one off the road!
Result!

Well got to the bottom of it last night.
By method of elimination it did indeed turn out to be the fairly new battery (by fairly new I mean only 3 months since I purchased)
So its going back to whence it came and I'm going to get a proper job i.e A Hawker Odyssey PC535MKB

I've taken measurements and reckon it will just about
squeeze in.
Has anyone else fitted one of these bad boys?
I reckon together with the wiring mod and my new (but unnecessary) solenoid this will take care of any future starting issues
hopefully!!

Looks impressive and expensive, but a lot more bang for your buck.
Let us know if it fits.

Wow! That's a battery and a half by the looks of it.
Now get it going and let me know when and where we're riding to on our inaugural blat.
Good work.

Mellow Yellow - there's nowt wrong with a yeller 'un. I've got one and it looks great. They're only jealous because theirs are grey, and they have to bling them up with smoked kippers on the back of their bikes
