School me on GoPros

#1 Post by squadron Nero » Tue Jun 24, 2014 8:13 pm

So I fancy a camera to mount to my bike for various reasons. Gopro seem to be the best of the bunch but there are so many and prices range widely. Anybody have any experience with them or in the know on what to look for / what features it should have as I don't want to blow a load of cash on something that records a blurry un-viewable mess.

Ta.

Buy a gopro, don't mess around with anything less. They are the best end of.

I have a hero 3 and it records perfectly with no judder/skipping you'd think I was being filmed from a tripod.

I bought a Hitachi job before Christmas, but the mounts are crap so haven't used it yet. Just modding it to fit on a GoPro mount, might have it sorted at the weekend so might have some video to share than

PS It was on offer at Argos for less than £40, so thought it was worth a punt

£40 is tempting. When you get ot going maybe you could post something in YouTube so we can see the quality.

I've been looking at a gopro hero 3 black + They seem to be around the £300 mark which at the moment I may struggle with as ive just blown a wad on some shiney new Dainese leathers :D

I'm in no rush though.

Funny coincidence

I have also been looking

Gopro hero 3+ black - cheapest high street price seems to be argos

Or look at http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00HJMU ... ot_redir=1

76 quid with all the mounts.....

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

The hero 3+ black edition. £240 brand new on flea bay should be here by the weekend.

I don't know whether or not to order some sort of Mount to fit it to the bike as it comes with a load of mounting stuff straight outta the box.
Would be cool if I could find one that sat between the front forks above the mudguard and below the light.

Nope. There's a thing called "suspension travel" that will quickly reduce your GoPro to a mangled piece of wreckage. Or mash your front mudguard. Or your fairing. Or all three at once.
It's the V-twin thing. There's just something about it that inline-4s don't have at all, and V-4s don't have enough of.

you will need to order some mounts. unless you want to stick one of the pads to your bike or helmet

I don't want anything stuck. I want a mechanical fixing. Anybody recommend a decent mount. Something forward facing. I don't want it stuck to my helmet either as surely that will create a nasty unbalanced feel and also the effect of having a small air brake attached to your head.

Have been looking at bike cams too recently.

Seems to be loads about but cheap ones look cheap and probably record crap.

GoPro is the best but I struggle spending £300 on something I am gonna use a few times a year tops.

Was looking at this one: I know it says for kids but...?

These are not the Droids you're looking for...

I bought a 2.5" bar mount and attch it to my crash bung, works a treat. A suction cup would stick on the tank or even the screen and fairing at certain points.

Mounts...

#15 Post by GregD-UK » Thu Jun 26, 2014 8:08 pm

Hi all,

Went to croft with Pierre two weeks ago, he had his "Bullet" Cam on the top part of his stancheon. Tied on with a layer of rubber first then three zip ties and said camera. Seemed stable enough, until he came off going out of tower and onto the S's. He said "Ouch" when he was brought back by the ambulance :smt009
My warranty is the clear/smoked tail lights around the corner!!
