Re: Power commanders
Yes - Gen 1 Mille PCs are exactly the same as Falco ones - other than they come with a different fuel map. Being as you will probably be changing the map anyway, then in reality, one is as good as the other.Yellowperil wrote:Will milie power commanders work on the falco?
TBH, to get the most out of a PCIII, you really need to get a custom map done.
Unless you have a really odd bike setup, you will probably find a more effective and cheaper solution is to get a Forza chip or a Gabro chip.
Since getting a Gabro chip, my PCIII has remained disconnected.

I have a forza chip currently installed however I believe my bike is running extremely rich (will confirm this Thursday on the dyno!), so I'm looking at a power commander in order to set it up properly on the dyno!
I might take you up on that offer if I don't win the auction for the other one, however with the dyno times being priced at £50 per hour I want to do this a frugally as possable :)

If the bike is running rich you have the wrong chip for your mods, if any

Yes that's what I thought however I have currently fuel exhausts but my airbox is std!
I was told the forza chip was to allow the bike to run richer to compensate for the lean mixture as a result of the cans, however it seems it's gone too rich!
Would you suggest removing the forza chip and putting the old chip back in?
Also I'm uncertain as to the country of origin, what should I be looking for to work out if my bikes restricted?
The only clue is a sticker on the airbox indicating a service that was carried out in Germany, however this could have been whilst touring/ before a nurburgring assault?
Is that's a power commander 3 USB you have for sale?

If the cans have baffles in, they'll run on the "stock" map as this doesn't really tend to lean of the mixture much, if at all.Yellowperil wrote:Yes that's what I thought however I have currently fuel exhausts but my airbox is std!

Did you buy the chip 2nd hand? If not, talk to Ed (Forza), if 2nd hand still talk to Ed, he can advise best on what his kit is meant for.

Also another thing to look out for with a chip that is suited to your bike is, When trying to start the bike does it struggle to fire?
Sorry to cut in on you firestarter. But if the cans have the baffles removed the standard chip will be fine.
And also it is mentioned that the chip was ordered to suit what was thought best at that time?
And even with a K@N air filter the standard chip will be fine.
Look out for a renegade air box or something equivalent to match up with your cans with the Forza if you want more from the bike.

Baffle reducing the air box intake opening. A certain wire on the ECU.Yellowperil wrote:, what should I be looking for to work out if my bikes restricted?

You may be able to save a few bucks simply by checking the airbox set up and speaking to Ed ( Forza )
If you are running rich the plugs will be black and sooty, good fueling will leave the plugs grey or coffee coloured,
A stock Forza chip is advertised for 'open airbox and zorst' so wont work with baffles and stock air filter.
Maybe fit the old eprom untill you get this sorted, running mega rich will mean the excess fuel will break down the oil film on the cylinder walls causing top end wear.
cancel the dyno for now and do a little bit of investigating, you will save a lot of money and hassle

Today I put the old chip back in, checked to see if the wire had been cut (which it had!) and fitted a new air filter, I'm now running no baffles!
The fueling is not 100% right because there's a nano second or 2 of hesitation when the throttles is yanked open, however in comparison to the previous setup it's a lot better!
I'm thinking the hesitation could be down to plugs due to the rich running for the last month!
I'm assuming that with the wire cut and all the other restriction removed my bike is ok to run without baffles?
I still want to dyno it to see hoe the fueling is, to see what if anything will need to change!

Running without baffles will be ok. But message Ed at forza and tell him exactly what you are running to make things spot on if the bike is hesitant like you sayYellowperil wrote:Today I put the old chip back in, checked to see if the wire had been cut (which it had!) and fitted a new air filter, I'm now running no baffles!

I've got a Forza chip in my Falco along with Ed's open airbox kit. Never had any complaints about how it ran.
Have fitted a PC3 now, and the dyno place did say that it was running rich about 5000 rpm with Ed's chip, but I could never tell.
Anyway now got the best of both worlds, the ignition advance changes from Ed and the mapping of a PC3. If I couldn't afford a PC3 I would be more than chuffed with just Ed's chip, but I was looking at going to 54mm TBs at the time too.
