Interesting - because mine are definitely brass. You can scratch them with a screwdriver and underneath the patina they're defintely a bronze-coloured metal (and non-magnetic).

However a local pneumatic/hydraulics place has them in stock for £1.90 a pop, and they are steel but zinc-plated - so I've availed myself of a few...

How much are Griff's as a matter of interest?

I didn't ask Griff the price mate. Have you got pictures of your find and the contact details of the hydraulics place please :smt017

I'll put some pics up in a little while, but the place I got mine from was PHC in Sheffield (http://www.phcltd.net/).

To be honest, I reckon any pneumatics/hydraulics place would have them in stock; they had a bin full of them. They certainly seem to be a very standard item, and paying over £10 a pop from Aprilia is lunacy. I wouldn't be surprised if you couldn't get them significantly cheaper than I did elsewhere.

Mine was found to be more or less stripped the first time he serviced it. He charged me a fiver for the new one if I remember correctly.
