Urgent Help Needed! Resistors...
Hi All,
Last night one of the resistors I'd added to an LED rear indicator decided to eject itself on the A130. Now, I'm not mechanically minded at all and, last time (when trying to buy the correct resistors) I ended up paying way over the odds on a set from Hein Gerricke as they were clearly labeled for idiots like me.
I know that there has been threads on this subject, but I just end up confusing myself over all the options...
Would someone be kind enough to give me a link to the correct resistor, as I'm taking the missus on a bike trip this weekend so need to sort it asap!!
Thanks!

Search Maplin for a 10W, 15 ohm resistor. They're 84p for a wirewound resistor (white block with a wire sticking out each end). sorry but my work's internet doesn't seem to work with Maplin's website.
I've literally just bought one at the weekend (they only had one in stock), and have wired it in and it works spot on, just need the other now to sort both sides. This is per-indicator.
If you need, I'll take a photo of the wiring arrangement I've done tonight.

I use these, same resistor inside, just easier to mount, a bit more expensive and you can't just pick them up like the local maplins, but I prefer them

Pass me a hammer, a spanner and a cuppa
Thanks guys! :) I'll get the Maplins one as they're pretty much the same as the ones I have, easier to go get and the other one shows as out of stock!
Firestarter - I'm good with the wiring ta, just need to secure it better this time!

Careful, squid will think he's got some competition...wayno wrote:I use these, just easier to mount

Mine aren't mounted, just dangling wherever the wires leave them (still near the lighting loom though), although I am going to tape them down somewhere just so the wires don't get broken when taking stuff out the seat pod.

Coincidentally, a very long time ago I started building a thread for the technical section explaining the operation of indicators and the issues encountered when changing to LED indicators - along with solutions to the problems. That thread got lost in time amongst a lot of good intentions.
However, last week I picked it up again and will have it posted up soon.
I've also come up with a bit of an "enhancement" from which we all might benefit (whether we have filament bulb or LED indicators) ..... once I've tested that in anger I'll add that to the thread too.
Sorry it's all a long way behind schedule .... but soon to be rectified.

Mine are actually stored tucked up behind the tail tidy. I figured that way they can't cause any heat damage - the now-realised downside being if one comes loose it's gone!!Firestarter wrote:Careful, squid will think he's got some competition...wayno wrote:I use these, just easier to mount![]()
