Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

And for the record, over 70 spam accounts since my first post.... That's in 24 hours

I suspect it will get worse before we lock things down again

Getting quite pissed off at the frequency of pop up notifications on my phone that I've got a new email ..... telling me about another new attempted joiner with an infeasible username .............

Anyone know where I can buy a new kitchen?

That said, although we need a solution, I'm really not in favour of suspending new applications. We want to stop the spammers and scammers without punishing the genuine joiners - and we've had a minor flurry of them too recently.

fresh news from the shire

we hit over 600 this morning, so hobbit went fishing....

(The admins will know the joke there!)

Rather worryingly, Saruman seemed to have weighed into the fight last night - after the pub was closed.... he may even have put his pipe down....

I have been vetoed from my normal savage violent response (People still think nurses are caring????)

Andy has been quite philosophical and I think is evolving into an old fashioned social worker who just wants to help the kids.....

either way, we are onto it and will keep folk updated as we progress

..... not that the general forum membership should notice any impact whatsoever - it's all happening in the background and none has yet breached the defensive walls

.... now ..... what's that on my phone .... another email ..... wishing to register on ridersite ......

But it's good for the forum members to realise there's a lot of work being done by the admins on our behalf!

Well said, BG! It's easy to forget the stalwart work that forum moderators do in the background. Well done fellas and thank you. I assume that, despite all the current tribulations, this must be one of the better forums to moderate because everyone on here seems decent. I've never seen any of the vitriol and sniping on here that I have on other sites. Long may that be the case.

If those sort of people do ever join, I reckon they decide we'ra all boring and go away!

RiderSite has always been warm and fluffy, even when it was a lot bigger!

We've had a few minor skirmishes but they have been few and far between and never allowed to get out of control.

The admin/mod role on here is more of a friendly janitor - having a laugh with the residents and a bit of tidying up when they make a bit of a mess posting up.

Long may it continue.
