Side Stand issues.

Saw one of these yank stands today on a Tuono (first Aprilia I've seen since I've been in USA).
TBH although in a different league to the stand we get, I didn't think it compares that well to the Gixer stand mod.

Sorry D but with three bolts there's a whole bucket of differences. Been the gixer route and although good its not a patch on a fully fledged 3 bolt Yankee standD-Rider wrote:Saw one of these yank stands today on a Tuono (first Aprilia I've seen since I've been in USA).

Fair enough - i've never actually used the US stand. It's just the "standing footprint" didn't look so good - though hugely better than our standard version. The bolting to the frame may be better and possibly that helps.

cut the existing leg
remove a piece - say 2 inches
use a high grade stainless threaded rod
drill an tap thread in ieach of the two remaining parts
fit with two lock nuts
adjust and mark
remove and reassemble with thread lock
you may need to adjust the foot with heat a vice and a hammer
reckon that would do it

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

You can buy adjustable length stands for lowered Japanese bikes. Find out what standard ones people are fitting as replacements and get the adjustable aftermarket version. Firestorm/Superhawk stands fit the european bikes from memory, some one with a clue will chip in.efrizz16 wrote:What are my options for an adjustable stand seeing that my bike is lowered?
