Good news Jay, but just as you have said, this new tactic woks very well for the employers. Unions have no real say anymore, get people re-applying for new jobs, (some very similar to their old jobs but lower paid). try and ensure the employees are blaming each other, hence all the back stabbing, and are all just grateful to be there doing far more work for less money, but still "happy" to be in a job.
Sounds very familiar to me, that's why I got out a bit early last year from my Council job.
Hope it turns out reasonable for you.
If you can't afford a stab vest, you could try a back protector, my Forcefield would probably do decent job! :smt003

Thanks for the support folks.
You know the score. You walk into a room and it go's quiet etc.
I have even said....Hey up what was you on about? I got a nasty reply like.... Its fuckin private keep your nose out.
All I think then is... Well fuck you.
I have had a lot of support from real friends who have stated the obvious.... Jealousy etc.
One did point out if these individuals were my friends they would shake my hand and wish me well.
Apparently I am a cock sucker for getting the job. That makes me laugh :smt003
I know its just frustration on their part for not getting an offer. :smt008
I cant wait to move on and hopefully make a good career move and things will settle down.
On another note Howard. The money is the same. :smt079

Good news!

The others will settle down - and anyway if that's their attitude - sod 'em!

Unfortunately it has not settled well with certain people who I thought were good work colleagues and I have had to start wearing a stab proof vest.
Oh well. :smt104
Congrats on the new job. :smt001
And as for the arseholes, fuck 'em.
Wait, that came out wrong.

Thoughts? Yes. I worked for british steel and during my career there they went from 220k employees down to 42k ie 180k redundancies. So I have been where you now are on numerous occasions.

1/ the structure cascades downwards - the top layer is the first to get sorted, then they chose their next layer and so on down the line. They cant tell you whats happening to you yet because it hasnt been decided
2/ problem with these situations is that people torture themselves with worry. Easier to say than do it but the best thing is simply to ignore the question until it gets down to your level
3/ there are clear rules about how they can change your job. Acas or similar will give you the latest details - I am out of date

Above all dont waste your time speculating and chattng about it. Wont change anything by doing so

And they have people to interpret those rules so that if you don't play their game you have no job!
Sometimes people prefer to have a job........ It happened to my daughter - she had a new job which she didn't like much with less money and no company car - but she chose this because it was better than having no job. She stuck it out and now her job has changed again (same company) and she has more money and a job she enjoys and works nearer home, so it was worth it.

That's good news Jay, well done you. I've been through it loads of time and all you can do is put yourself in the best position you can, and don't beat yourself up about the things that are out of your control. Look after yourself and your family and don't worry about the reaction of others, although it must be unpleasant when those work mates around you have turned against you. Sod em.
Congrats to you matey.

Glad to see you are sorted. I wouldn't want the price of Falcos to drop because some one has flooded the market... :smt001

Glad it has turned out for the best, Jay. The green-eyed monster is a terrible thing, but just ignore the sad individuals and get on with your life. You won't have to put up with them for too long, anyway... :smt003
