Falco newbie

#1 Post by carnage » Wed Jul 10, 2013 5:58 am

Hi All , some have already given me a greeting in the classifieds but I thought id introduce myself here and stick the card behind the bar ...knock ya selves out.
Just relieved myself of my precious gsx1400 which over the past 4 years has removed from a vast amount of cash to get looking the way I wanted and opted for a Falco as her replacement, big thanks to Aladin and a few others for top tips thus far ...feel free to offer up any more that come to mind.

cheers

carnage

welcome

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

so far ive done:
open airbox + PCIII
fuel cans
tail tidy + small indicators
white spring shock of a mille
double bubble screen.

still to do...
flat bar conversion
refurb said shock/replace with ohlins nitron maxton etc
fit mille swinging arm
lightweight wheels

......and so the list goes on :smt003
but it is good fun, and the guys here are top class :smt003

Welcome & thanks for the drinks!

Yesterday i saw a 1967 bottle of Sirius Whisky for 'only' £3500, £175 a glass lol.

Just the one single then eh?

My falco tips, buy the very best battery you can afford, starter & relay will both thank you. I also did the easier parts of the charging mod and saw an improvement.

Cheers, Frank

Hello

Mine (a 2005) has the following:

K&N filter
Evo airbox kit
GPR cans
Forza chip to suit the above 3 items
Skidmarx belly pan
Ohlins remote reservoir rear shock (pukka, no RSV-R tat :smt003 )
Rebuilt front forks (Marzocchis) with heavier oil & reduced air gap
1T smaller front sprocket
Dunlop Sportsmarts

So the only cosmetic mod is the belly pan. I'd quite like some black levers, but no rush. All the other mods work and made a genuine difference.

Oh, for whoever wants a 'bar conversion, I have a mint LSL top yoke & risers plus Renthal bars all for sale. My bike came with them fitted.

Only mod purely for looks is Mille swing arm

As well as above consider front fork service

I have done a few things to my falco....

You mean the swingingarm mod to clear the 2 into 1 exhaust mod.

Purely for looks? :smt009

Now the clear or smoked tail light lenses and the replacement indicators and the belly pans ..... etc etc .... now they are harder to justify on any grounds other than looks

but mine are black / smoked, so they are there fore a performance mod as we all know that black is faster....

and good point re the mille swing arm - but many who have done it, have done it purely for aesthetics..... i did mine initially only for the look..... other stuff then happened!
