Why did it have to happen when it got sunny
Parked April outside the house tonight and someone came knocking on the door to tell me neighbours lad had reversed into her in his van and knocked her over.
So will spend the weekend assessing the damage and sulking because I can't take her out.

It's not surprising .... April has turned to May - and June will be along before you know it.plasticpig72 wrote:Parked April outside the house tonight and someone came knocking on the door to tell me neighbours lad had reversed into her in his van and knocked her over.

Sorry to hear the bad news - hope it's not too bad

Wel at least it Is on his insurance so you will not get hit
I assume you have reported it to the police? If not, do so and get the incident number
You have got a statement from your neighbour?
Take photographs
sounds like overkill but...
And if someone says its a bit harsh on a young driver - ask what if you had been sitting on the bike....
And sorry to hear this :(

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.
That said when it comes to motorbikes, I like to ride side saddle with a nice frock

Yes it was a white van.
Only got the bike in October so hacked off.
Damage so far:
Lower fairing skirt
Lower fairing
Mirror
SL Carbon can damaged
Brake lever snapped (only fitted six weeks ago, nice blue alloy ones)
Small scratch on tank
Bent brake pedal
Broken rear brake reservoir
Bar end
Small chip on top of fairing.
His father has agreed to pay.

Be firm
This is not your insurance claim..... And if your company is not being helpful, ask for a referral to the ombudsmen - the down side is they will try for knock for knock.. X
His insurance does have to hire a replacement vehicle while the bike is worked on and it is their responsibility to arrange and pay for it.... I had a fight with Suffolk police's insurance about this subject- ombudsmen was a very magic word!
And NO you will not allow it to be written off....

Nightmare for you mate, but top advice from Aladin there, you have witnesses.
Insist on a similar loan bike, RSV being the nearest comparison
.
As all the damaged parts are readily available, no its NOT A BLOODY WRITE OFF YOU LAZY PEN PUSHING SHIT LICKERS, SORT IT OUT NOW

Yep - always a bit embarrassing when it's folks you know but sounds as though you know them well and they're doing the right thing.plasticpig72 wrote:I have known my neighbour for 20+ years, I am certain he will pay, whatever the cost. He has been over tonight to offer some money in advance. It just a pain.
Hope it all gets sorted OK

Worst case scenario is if it does frighten him with the cost of parts unfortunately the bike will be written off if the insurance company gets involved.
Carl AKA Wayofthedarkhand had exactly the same happen to his bike but unfortunately the third party didn't come clean and he had to prove what happened.
His bike sustained less damage than your and the bill for repair with genuine parts was more than a falco cost when first purchased.
The only way I think this will turn out rosey is you doing the work yourself and him purchasing second hand bits.
The fairing and tank could be repaired by a good painter and the other items are easy to change or repair
