I'm (supposedly) taking a couple of weeks holiday from work (though I've done several days work while I've been off).
Had to go in to work this morning.
..... Falco decided it didn't want to go to work and wouldn't start ....

Tonight my son rang me to say his bike wouldn't start to come home. Off I went to sort him out. Sure enough it wouldn't go.
Chucked it in the back of the car and brought it home.
Getting it out of the car, rather than holding it on the brake like I instructed, my lad let it go and on the way out it gouged the paintwork on my bumper.

Have spent all evening checking his bike over I've come to the conclusion that my early fear is correct .... not enough compression (my compression gauge won't fit 12mm plug holes to verify - but have checked and adjusted just about everything else and done the thumb over the plug hole thing)

Well, that's 2 dead bikes to try to breathe life back into in all the time I haven't got to do this ...........

His bike a 2 stroke?.. online, handbook, throw him some spanners and make him do a top overhaul.
Falco? it's an Aprilia. Theyre not meant to work all the time or they'd be made by Honda.

I have a list of annoyances this week. lawnmower pull start.. Bike.. Pushbike gears.. workload... weather..

I suggest we have a lock in at the bar.. seems like many need it

Currently an infinite stroke ...... it'll go up and down as many times as you can kick it over and it still won't begin a combustion stroke .....

It's his 1975 CB125 ..... in need of a rebuild methinks

Amongst my many annoyances this week Kwaks - the lawnmower will start first pull. Bl**dy Honda. NO excuse for not mowing the lawns now.

Shall be MOTing the Suzuki Burgervan tomorrow - he can switch to that and I can then fix the 125 at my leisure .... which one of my other sons can then ride.

The Burgman thingy was given to Daniel by a chap at work who had given up riding due to difficulty in getting insurance after suffering a heart attack. The Burgman needed a bit of sorting but now I've done that we can get the MOT done and get it off the SORN.

Think I'm going to give up bikes and buy a horse - what could possibly go wrong .........

Two old boys do a scrap collection with a horse and cart, been doing it year after year after year.
Every day same routine, one gets the horse out of the stable, puts his nosebag on, the other harnesses horse to cart.
One morning, they leave the yard and the horse falls down dead just outside the gate.
One says to the other ' Funny, he's never done that before '

Well my bike won't start either and its a Honda LOL, found out this afternoon there's no compression on 2 and 4 cylinder (wondering if its the rings on them) so in the next 2 weeks it'll be off to be remedied, just don't know where yet as we have a dearth of decent mechanics in this part of Surrey. Then mot and road tax.
Went and had a spin on a BM as well its a 2009 with 4 k on the clock so not really run in yet, its up for grabs for £4500 (GS12) and its got a nice seat. will have to see if I can get the bosses approval as it means digging into savings.

Well reports of it being fixed were premature. I had got it running but when I rode it to it's MOT on Tuesday, I found it would cut out every time you touched the brakes or used the indicators.
So it was a bit of a hair-raising journey - being a scooter it wouldn't start again without being stopped and the brakes applied .... and as it's an auto, clutch and gears to slow wasn't an option.

Anyway, it passed the MOT.

Today I sorted it (Earth problem so added a new GND wire between ECU and the battery).

So now Daniel has it insured, SORN replaced with a tax disk and he can now get to work next week!
