I have a suspicion that that is a renegade chip.....
Most renegade chips have a crappy dot matrix printed label
Some are hand written
Most are marked as +10 or +20 (some are just +1 or +2)
I believe that some chips, based on the +10 chip were done for the falco - I have never seen one however
Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

I think this must be the 5th time I've read this lot, a ton of info from Flatters, but Viking's comment makes me sure I have a Gabro ( cant get into ECU, mashed casing screw )
When I replaced std air filter with a K&N, the Falc took on a whole new demonic dimensiion, demanding, demanding, demanding, overtaking IS NOW COMPULSARY. YOU CANNOT NOT DO IT. MORE, FASTER, NOW !
Massive fun but demands irresponsibilty, nothing else will do !
Yes I must open that ECU and fit a different chip

Well....
I pulled the Gabro chip out and replaced it with the stock SL chip. And now the crackling / booming / backfiring on small throttle settings and over-run is gone. So is the low-RPM stumble.
I think I'll stick with the SL chip and Rene air filter, as the power output and sound seems to be the same as when I had the Gabro chip installed.
It's the V-twin thing. There's just something about it that inline-4s don't have at all, and V-4s don't have enough of.

I think it'd be worth contacting Gabro and telling him this - sounds like there is some problem with what he sent you - maybe loaded the wrong map to the chip he supplied or something?

the mashed screw will usually come out with long nosed pliers they give just enough grip ... well assuming you have a sense of grip and working hands

For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.

I've found a driver bit that fits the mashed screw, but as its working, I wont try to fix it !
Bit scared of more ecectrical woes that cost £ hundreds !
Im still so totally thrilled to be riding the growling beast again, in a far better form, but, learning to be a little more temperate with the lunatic throttle response

Guess your hands are still not good ?

Slow recovery but any recovery is good :)
For. The first time in a lifetime of stupidity I have found a physio that actually does some good !
Unfortunately the BUPA cover that has been paying for it will most likely stop paying for it when someone tells them that I have now been made redundant
Luckily I got some money which may help see me through till I can get a new job
Unluckily means I can't afford new tyres to mot and ride the bike
Luckily that also means I am delaying my next major act if unlucky stupidity

That's a bugger.
On the upside there are always jobs for talented IT people.
And when they get one you can have their old one.

What are peoples thought on the Factory pro chip and the titanium sp chip? I was round a mates at the weekend looking at his RSV and he has a titanium sp chip fitted and a factory pro one in a little box, we were wondering if they were any good.

I fired a PM to Gabro (over at the "other place") and got a reply back today. He says that I need to tune the ECU according to some instructions over on "the other forum".
I'll check them out and see if I can schedule some time. (hahaha! Fat chance of that...)
Anyone else got other ideas? (And no, my budget won't stretch to a PC-III and time on the dyno.)

Shouldn't need a PCIII to get a Gabro chip running right. Maybe to optimise but that would only be a final bit of refinement.
I'm guessing he's probably getting you to adjust the trim pots - not sure what else it could be.

DR is correct you need to set the trim pots to 12 o'clock as standard and then adjust to your liking there is a guide over on the other side but its simple .... must be I can do it
Two little holes on the ECU with blue slot headed things in the recess small flat head and I don't mean Tim and set to 12 o'c;lock
