1 piece or 2 piece suit ?

#1 Post by fatboy » Sun Mar 17, 2013 6:23 pm

Which do you prefer and why ?

The reason Im asking as Im about to buy 1 piece leathers, the only disadvantage I can see with 1 piece is it could be a bit warm strolling around in it if we ever have one of those 'summer' things again.
I have a crappy old 2 piece but find it impossible to zip the jacket on when Im in the trousers

I prefer 2 piece... Can take your jacket off when sitting at a cafe or just wear the jacket with Kevlar jeans. You can also get a better fit with two piece as you can have different size jeans and jacket if your an odd shape like me...

Two piece

Mix and match helps us fat bastards

2 piece. Much easier when the weather is warm to cool off when not riding, can wear with kevlar jeans and (most importantly) it's a million times easier to go to the toilet in 2 piece!
You always have a choice

I've had both. If I was racing or doing track days it would be one piece but for road riding, definitely 2 piece every time. So much more convenient for all the things you need to do on an extended ride; going for a leak, stopping for a coffee in a cafe, or adding or removing layers.

For the road, 2 piece, much safer.

And before anyone asks, I have explained it in a previous thread (albeit some time ago) based on my experience of investigating about 20,000 crashes and the injuries sustained (seperate to my normal job) and in my capacity as a consultant to a number of clothing and helmet manufacturers.

Thanks all, I must admit I was seduced by the amount of armour in the 1 piece, deffo track based.
I can get the same in 2 piece for a little less than the onesy, now just hope the bank says yes !

Yup. 2 piece for me. Means I can mix and match my leather and textile jackets with my leather trousers. Stretches the season slightly as I can put the liner in my fabric jacket and stay a bit warmer.
I'm right 98% of the time so why worry about the other 3%?

2 piece is more flexible for touring. If you want to go out in the evening you have a warm jacket with out having to pack one especially for the purpose. If you need a leak in a hurry on a cold day it can be a problem getting one piece leathers off the shoulders so you can get the zip low enough.....

I have three combinations. One piece for its all about the ride. Two piece for daily commute to work and jacket , leather jeans and body belt for touring or going out in the evening.
Don't put off 'till tomorrow what you can enjoy today

1 piece suits tend to be cut for riding the bike - fine for racing and trackdays, but I've always found them bloody uncomfortable for walking around in.
