Tracing back my Falco

#1 Post by Cathcart » Fri Mar 01, 2013 8:27 am

Decided to try and find out what my falco used to look like and see if an ex member used to own it. I know it used to have a different eprom and pipes...

So far I know its black and bronze on a 53 plate and came from aberdeen. Noticed through searching that it possibly belonged tp a guy called Goldie. Reason I say this as I find a post saying he runs a diablo front with diablo strada rear which are what the bike was hearing when I bought it. Think he also owned the same colour. Surely there can't have been that many falco in aberdeen. Think he went to a meet... Any pics? Registration ends in aez.

Seems he sold/traded in his falco in 2008 after putting it back to standard foran r1. Still not sure if it was him that owned mine.

He certainly did!

Met him at the Durham weekend a few years ago.

Click on the Archives link in the general aprilia section and search in the archived forum - I posted pics of that weekend - he and his bike will have been there - along with HisNibbs (who used a different forum name I think), Davshill, Falcopops (before he moved to Oz) and Tweaker - plus some others

Done loads of searching on it today, just want to know what it looked like as it was obviously modified then put back to standard before i got it. I shall have a look though.
Appreciated

From what I remember it was pretty standard when Goldie had it. I think he sold it outside of the forum so we'd have no idea what happened to it then.

I guess if you looked in the archived old forum you found these?

I didn't get those ones. It is where I got the information about his tyres and bellypan though. Was a guy aged about 25-30 that I bought it from.
I'm guessing my search will end pretty soon.

well, if it is any help, I think my falco was an early press bike - i have an article which is where the bike had just been released and was being tested..... there is one photo that shows the registration plate and even though it is very fuzzy... it looks very similar... however the down side was one of the journos chucked it down the road!

Well if I do have Goldie's old bike it'll be a parallel import... How do I find out if mine is?

Alad, lets be honest, most bikes of our age have had some form of slide or drop.

god i feel sorry for google

you can imagine the email
"Dear Sir

I am writing to you to offer my services on the safe and appropriate use of a search facility as it would appear that your product is not as effective as the Ridersite Search Function. I would only be too happy to share the secret of my success for a small consideration involving a gold plated zimmer frame, a packet of chocolate hob nobs and your pledged support to stop my brothers the badgers being culled

Yours faithfully

Cynic of Coventry"

Well would you believe it, from half way round the world I still have Goldie's mobile number in my old phone, real name Nigel, top bloke being a fellow Scot I'm a little biased.

I'll PM his number to you, bearing in mind it dates back to that Durham trip.

Spoke to him via text quickly... Same number. Hahaha.
The registration plate is different... That'll be that then. Only thing that could make that happen was if a private plate was put on and original unavailable upon private plate removal.
Seems there may have been two falco in aberdeen with same tyre setup, colour and the same bellypan (although black on mine)...
Never know...

Cheers all the same folks.
