I have a quick question for all you clever Falco gods....Would a set of RSV4 forks fit our bikes ?...Would we be able to keep our own yokes or would we need the yokes as well........OR.... can i get ( and i don't know what it's called if it has a name ? ) the bottom part of the forks as mine are looking like sh#t and need replacing or tarting up again...
Any ideas.......good or bad , let me know..

buy a set of second hand showa falco forks
get them stripped down and then the externals refurbished / painted
take them somewhere and have the internals rebuilt with ohlins cartridges
simples

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

The chrome bits at the bottom (on a USD fork) are called stanchions or just fork tubes. They can be re-chromed or (if bling is your thing) coated with titanium nitride (gold effect, like most Ohlins).
The fork lowers (the bit where the wheel spindle goes through) can also get tatty after a while; probably the best thing with them is to get the forks stripped and get them powder-coated. Anodising cast components is always a bit hit and miss.

Now I’m heart broken Aladin ...."knowing you ".....are you saying I’ll just go and buy a new set of forks instead of trying to fix these and after all the trouble i've been through with the bloody rearsets and brake brake !!!! I have to admit sometimes it is easier to do so as when I attempt things it already costs me to get the parts then I "try" and fix it.....IT BREAKS
......then it's costs me twice as much as it should of done so logic says miss the breaking bit out and just buy new !!!
By the bottom part I mean the piece where the brakes fit onto and the spindle goes through on the front wheel ......can I get them somewhere or can I remove them ( yes I will Aladin ) ....and get hem tarted up ? As I have already done the internals on my forks by fitting progressive springs ( I like them even though a lot of people don't ) and having them set up for me and my riding I’m not that keen to get rid of these forks BUT on saying that I thought I would ask about the rsv4 forks as I’ve seen a set for sale and was thinking out loud........
Signing off to go and find a corner to cry in now as i thought i was starting to " fit in " with the Northern Falco tweaking gang...

I suggested that solution as you then do not have the bike off the road.....
Taking the forks out is not a problem - as you know - just slacken everything off first!
To refurb the stanchions properly you would have to strip the forks down
And I think no one doubts your falco fettling credentials!

All the bronze bikes I've nosed at have the same scruffy looking fork bottoms with flaky and chipped paint. I'm ignoring mine. And if you find someone leaning over to peer at yours then they're in the perfect position for a karate chop to the back of the neck...cornish mafia wrote:

Not really so sure about that Jay
First problem .... finding a donor Buell .... in fact finding one of those Buells at all .........
Secondly ....... I'd not go for the buell front end and disk arrangement. Although you drop a set of callipers I doubt you drop a huge amount of un-sprung weight with that huge disk and also I doubt it helps the gyroscopic forces with that huge radius. Then there's the issue of spares - doubt that aftermarket rotors are easy to source.
Thirdly - the big oil tank/ swingarm doesn't appeal and it'd be a nightmare to fit that rear shock - completely different arrangement.
