Guru time

#1 Post by Falconihlist » Fri Aug 24, 2012 7:49 pm

For all the clutch slave gurus out there.

Just fitted another clutch slave. The last time I did this, the bike was supported by the side stand. Fitted new slave to pipes and got the lever to lock solid. Fitted slave to bike, tested for operation.

Question is, should the back wheel spin freely with the clutch lever pulled in with 1st gear selected or is there a certain amount of drag?

Thought as much, as the clutch rod doesn't travel that far laterally across the gearbox.

Mine does just the same when on the Ultipro workshop stand, it drags for quite a while when cold.
It also clunks into 1st.
Then again mine is still on the standard clutch jet, but after eight years I've just got used to it. :smt001

I think they call it character!

Howard, I am using the same stand, (cheap at 30 quid). Real good investment. I've had the clutch jet mod, and as you both say on cold there has always been a thunk into 1st gear. Now got to get used to GP shift :smt017

erm....

you put the gear change on upside down then.....

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Not upside down, just put on a Mille shift lever to even out the other side with the Mille rear lack of brake setup.
