It could be worse, you could have a "gold plated" Local Authority job.
Not had any sort of payrise for three years, even normal increments for staff who qualify.
Only ever had a max of 1/2 inflation raise for last 15 years or so and the good news...................
We came to the end of a 2 yr "voluntary" 1.5% pay cut in April, so it came as sort of a pay rise.
The pay cut was to help save jobs............
The result of that was approaching 1500 staff down the road, on "voluntary severance".
It's much nicer and easier to talk about than compulsary redundancies.
although in most cases the people did not want to go, but had no options.
Usual thing, section has a restructure and lots of the staff aren't in the new structure that's announced ...... What would you like to do
I met our ex cashier office supervisor ealier in the week, he went in October last year.
Only had one interview since, not a job in site and now reckons he won't get another job until his Council pension arrives in 10 years time.
As for me?
I've taken redundancy retirement and leave at the end of the month.
It will give me more time to get out on the bikes I suppose, if I can still afford the petrol.
