My payrise ?

#1 Post by fatboy » Wed Jun 13, 2012 7:29 pm

Yesterday my boss said he was pleased to announce that we have recieved a pay rise of .........................................................................................

1% :smt005 :smt005 :smt005

That means around £140 per annum, £2,06 per week
I work for a contracting company whose annual turn over is billions, the contract Im emplyed on is only worth £1.8 million plus the sale of the 250,000 tonnes of recyclable material we collect in a year

so that's a loss of 2.6% if the govt figures are correct (3.6% inflation)

I replied yes I should have told you to go f@ck yourself more clearly and a lot sooner ;)

4 years since I had a regular payday, I just take enough to pay the bills.

My staff earn more than me and the treasury take far to much.

Think I'd settle on a 2.6% loss

In a good month Im able to get by without exceeding my overdraft, this month, a moderate vet bill £80, car MOT £56, tax £75 and Im now wondering how the remaining £11 will last untill the 26th, with a £35/40 phone and internet bill to come out of that
Madness !
I was earning more than this 15 years ago working nights !

No pay rise for me either. In fact since the "restructure" I am now deemed to be doing a job at a lower level - and therefore "overscale" so won't be getting another rise...... ever. Still seem to be doing the same job though :smt017

All has a knock on effect, if you guys can't even afford food at the end of the month, you're not going to be buying bike stuff from me. The economy and the weather combined have ground things to a halt here pretty much. I've got one bike in to work on today, and have had a few enquiries, but there are no more bookings in my diary :smt009

It sucks i have to agree, i got 2.5% in january when inflation was at 5%, and since then gf moved out i've got all the bills to pay, though a new job within the company is on the cards though it does mean nights away, but i get my hotel and meals paid for whilst away and £60 a night for being away from home so i just hope i get this job.

Everbody is feeling the pinch yet we pump billions into the euro etc, the sooner a politico say no enough we are leaving europe and standing alone the better

It could be worse, you could have a "gold plated" Local Authority job.
Not had any sort of payrise for three years, even normal increments for staff who qualify.
Only ever had a max of 1/2 inflation raise for last 15 years or so and the good news...................
We came to the end of a 2 yr "voluntary" 1.5% pay cut in April, so it came as sort of a pay rise. :smt009
The pay cut was to help save jobs............
The result of that was approaching 1500 staff down the road, on "voluntary severance".
It's much nicer and easier to talk about than compulsary redundancies.
although in most cases the people did not want to go, but had no options.
Usual thing, section has a restructure and lots of the staff aren't in the new structure that's announced ...... What would you like to do :smt017
I met our ex cashier office supervisor ealier in the week, he went in October last year.
Only had one interview since, not a job in site and now reckons he won't get another job until his Council pension arrives in 10 years time.
As for me?
I've taken redundancy retirement and leave at the end of the month.
It will give me more time to get out on the bikes I suppose, if I can still afford the petrol.

It's only on forums like this and others that you actually get a true picture of what is going on out there.
I feel for everybody thats counting the pennies a week before payday(i do the same every month at the moment)
Yet people land at airports and docks with no paperwork or means of supporting themselves and we bend over backwards to help them yet people that have worked and paid into the system get cast aside, makes me so angry :smt013

Ive just recieved written confirmation of my payrise, including a revised total of my gross income ( I actually earn less than I thought )
£12,976. :smt005
Ive recieved a 3% pay increase in 5 years
I'd love to have Nooj do his stuff to my Falco but even getting it back OTR is distant untill I get the Eblag dispute sorted
