Hello Again

#1 Post by PH1969 » Wed Jun 13, 2012 3:55 pm

I had forgotten that I had joined this site but as soon as Aladinsaneuk reminded me to come over I rembered.

Previously owned a silver 53 reg falco which was great but i got talked into part-ex for a Mille which was good but I prefered the falco.
Bought a mint silver 51 reg last year and put 2000 miles on it before someone offered me a lot more money so that went.
Decided that i really need a permanent falco in the garage with the other bikes and so I will collect this tomorrow morning.

I knew this was not a UK colour scheme but I thought it was a European colour scheme. I checked before I bought that it wasn't an import and it was supplied as a UK bike.

Hi and welcome back.

At least half a dozen of these were imported to UK. Fastasfcuk has one and saw the crates with others in them.

Always worth checking it has a UK headlight (instructions as to how to do this are "stickied" on the forum)

Ok. Picked the bike up this morning and except for an annoying scratch on the tank side it is pretty much as I expected. Low mileage and looked after bike, even had two new tyres fitted.

I will check the headlight later tonight but I have a few questions that I do have the answers for, it's just I've misplaced them.

I know there are masses of upgrades you can do to the Falco but I was always quite happy with the way it ran as standard with a couple of changes.
1. Need a dark tint double bubble screen as the standard screen is wrong for my height and I get turbulance.
2. Need to change the exhausts to a set of slip-on cans, always liked the noise/quality/price of Fuel cans on my previous Falco are there any others to consider?
3. Long term I will replace the rear shock, I'm not impressed with Ohlins are there any other shocks that can be recommended?
4. Is there anywhere to buy replacement graphics as I will have to do something with the tank scratch.

Thanks all.

Bobseywoo did'nt make a good batch of sidestands last off dude.
The stability is good has well has the angle, but the foot did'nt sit flat on the floor making it look untidy.
Firestorm, gixer stands slightly modified and certain year CBR1000 stands are the way to go.
If you look on the search function a lot of this info is readily available has sidestand topics do arise from time to time :smt002

Dave,

I've just got a set of round 400mm road legal fuel cans with the removalable baffle, and i have to say im impressed with them well worth the money, and yes get the Ohlins set up and serviced, one of the best shocks for a falco, as a comparison try an early white spring mille shock as that's what i have. but i want an ohlins

If you want a brand new shock you could try a Wilbers, i got one for £350 and it has been excellent.
