PPI - Payment Protection Insurance

#1 Post by Kwackerz » Thu Jun 07, 2012 9:54 pm

Was all a bit skeptical about PPI and reclaiming it but after a simple straightforward phonecall to the bank, they sent me out the Ombudsman's survey form, which i dutifully filled out and sent to the bank's claim/complaint department. They'd already prefilled the details onto the form for me with the account details, etc for the loans I had had PPI on.

Anyhoo, they did say on the letter that it could take 8 weeks to be investigated, so i'd almost forgotten about it.

They got back to me today with a form to sign to accept their settlement (they upheld my claim for refund, etc) which I dutifully signed and ran at breakneck speed to the post box!

Not surprised really... when theyre asking am I happy with a settlement of 13000 pounds!! Just got to wait a few weeks for the payment to reach my bank

This isnt a gloat, purely a punch to your kidneys. If youve been mis-sold PPI, think you have, or havent got a clue, then PHONE YOUR BANK!! For the sake of a phonecall you could be slightly (or really lots) better off. DONT bother with these leeches, the companies who'll get it back for you, you can do it yourself WITHOUT lining their pockets.

Do it. BUT be honest. Dont do it to screw the bank over. :smt001

This month I shall be mainly drooling over Mille R's

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Sounds like a result.

I'm sick and tired of unsolicited calls and texts telling me that from their records (yeah right) I am due for a PPI refund.
I have never taken out a PPI policy (at least I don't ever remember doing so as I always avoid things like that) - so how the F~~~ can I be?

I used to hang on to the call and press "9" to opt out of further calls ... that didn't work.

Lots of scams about as well.
Usual one is to tell you you're owed thousands but you have to pay a 25% fee up front.
Once the fee's paid you never hear from them again.
Scam usually initiated by Indian sounding gentleman with suspiciously western sounding name.

HSBC was the one ive claimed back from

I do however want a word with Lloyds too...

Ive heard of banks being a bit arsey in the past and closing accounts after paying out, but i have a back up account should i need it plus the letter stating 'without prejudice'
