I didnt expect that !

About 3pm today I was getting bored with doing the MOT remedial stuff on the car when I heard an incredible engine note in the sky
I knew by the sound it was not the usual mail plane so I stopped and looked up, a few seconds later the rumble turned to a growl..........
A Spitfire flew over ! ! ! !
Unmistakable 'mouse ear ' wings a Spitfire ! ! !
Was going vvv slow, just above speed, sparing the enginge and the fuel bill
Guess its to do with the Jubilee Clip celebrations
Amazing

We saw 9 planes going over here yesterday - think it was the Red Arrows after the London fly-past - goodness knows where they were going though!
The tragedy of old age is not that one is old, but that one is young.

There was a 78 aircraft fly by at Windsor on Saturday, and it was spectacular.

Hercules, Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, Tornado's, Typhoons, VC10, Helicopters, + The Red Arrows to name but a few was fantastic and I was able to see most of it from my garden.

Don't think Heatnrow passengers were too pleased though as all inbound and outbound flights were suspended for the duration of the fly past :smt003

A few years ago we had a spitfire do a few low passes over our garden (this was while we lived here - not during the '39-'45 period).
Also, a few years back, a Gloucester Meteor crashed at the bottom of our estate - about half a mile from home (one of 3 plane crashes within 3 miles of home since we've lived here)

They were at Bournemouth before the flypast.
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.
