mine was a ford mk4 , been on bikes since i left scool not that it did me any good

at 25 i bought one of these

d-rider , i dont want to see any horse and carts

Datsun 100A Cherry. Don't have a pic of my car but it was just like this one. Except mine was rusty.

I'm right 98% of the time so why worry about the other 3%?

Not only my first foray into the intrepid world of Reliant's, but also the first time I'd driven anything with a roof and a steering wheel. Went everywhere in that thing. The thing with Reliant though, is it's difficult to only keep one. I had at one point 5 of the things. I now only have the one.. I hope to restore it to it's former glory one year.
Bought it for £200 off a mate. Drove it around on my motorcycle licence at the time. (The B1 entitlement covers them)

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handle bars to the saddle.

They were all rusty! When I had to part with mine the MOT tester wouldn't finish the test cos he thought the rear suspension hangers might collapse on the rolling road. Then I tried to give it to a bloke who did stock car racing but he said there wasn't anything sound enough to weld to!
My first car was a Ford Anglia. No, not the one with the odd rear window but one of these......

My first car wasnt my own but a 'company' car, a Morriss Traveller ( on Marina running gear )
It had wide wheels and instead of a horn it had an Air Raid siren, that made the old uns run !
Cleverly disguised as an adult !

Ford escort mk 2 jacked up suspension sunroof (looked homemade but worked) blue and with an alarm like anyone would want to steal it!
And the best bit the Starsky and Hutch white stripe loved that car though the ford guy did say I was the first person who had heard of asking for the suspension to be put back to standard
To which I replied no I said I don't give a rats what you do as long as the back starts following the front
For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.
That said when it comes to motorbikes, I like to ride side saddle with a nice frock

Vauxhall Viva HA in rust red with a blue driver's door. £25. Bargain...
The caravan wasn't included in the price (and it's not mine). Neither is/was the car. But that's sort of what it looked like...

My own first car was a Sunbeam Imp Sport - bought as I knew Imps were easy to work on and I had plenty of experience of them. The flaw in my theory was that although they were easy to work on .... they needed to be easy to work on as they were shite!
The car I learned to drive in was my dad's Volvo 145
Before getting my own car I also drove other cars my dad had.
One was my Grandad's Hillman Imp Husky (it was offered to me when my grandad gave up driving but I preferred to stick to bikes - not being able to afford running both)

Another was a Renault4
After my Sunbeam Imp, I bought a 3yr old Toyota Corolla - which I ran for 15 years (like this one but mine was a 2-door)

I passed my test after a crash course - 5 days instruction and then my test... I already had a full bike licence but my parents wanted me to have a car for uni....
my dad met a man in the pub - 50 quid changed hands and i had a hillman hunter

mine was a posh car - it had real vinyl seats LOL
it lasted for 9 months - and considering i rolled it the day I passed my test - i reckon that was pretty good
Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

First car was an ageing Toyota Starlet 1.2 had that for 30 minutes before the previous owner wrote it off when he borrowed it to pick his GF up..
Then I had a Mk4 Ford Cortina 1.3.. then a 1.6 Ford Capri... then about 195 cars of varying makes later I have a Transit Van. I do like Fords

That shape, but rustier. and no 2.1 pinto... (had an auto capri with a 2.1, that was one beautiful engine. NOT to be confused with the standard 2 litre ford lump)

Learnt to drive in dad's Jowett Bradford van. Two cylinders and about 11hp. First bike had twice as many cylinders and about 100 more hp.
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

Lada 1600 ES.
Don't laugh. It was cool - had a vinyl roof! And the most comprehensive tool kit I've ever come across - stirrup pump (no, for the tyres), inspection lamp with its own socket, really good selection of proper ring spanners, some of which I still have.
It had a Weber twin-choke downdraught carburettor. Original fell apart - crap casting - local Lada dealer had the Webers on special offer. Made quite a difference - it'd see off a contemporary Cortina (mark 4?5?) with ease. They were also offering turbo kits - was quite tempted, but couldn't afford it
It also helped me pull, once - the interpreter for a party of Latvian students on an exchange visit. After a tour round the museum, she came back - said she'd never seen a Lada in such good condition back home. And she came out with one of the most direct come-on lines I've ever heard -"in the Soviet Union, we also have contraception". Fond memories of Soviet thighs . . .
