odd clutch slipping issue!

#1 Post by longracinginc » Tue Apr 17, 2012 3:16 pm

I have changed the cluthch, slave cylinder, and vaccuum beed the system, the only thinf i can think is that the cheap adjustable levers are doing it, or I have to take the slave off when I blled it and press it back in while bleeding it. Any helo would be appreciated?

ok

if you have not changed the oil, two things

first off, look in the aprilia technical section for the guide to bleeding the hydraulics - you have too take the slave off and angle then action.... the guide explains it very well

second, and recent experience has shown me this - i spent the cash and bought new copper washers all round and then made sure the connections are tightened properly

third, and just too stop him sulking, just click on the search button - each time a forum member clicks on it, it sends a little rush of endorphins to andy's mind, and also - thanks to our forum sponsors - adds another Boots Advantage card point - and he saves them for his pubic grecian 2000

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

well I took the oberon slave off and the cylinder pusshed right in, like there was air in there. so i bled it with a bikemaster bleeder, and the slave off. has to have all the air out now. when it was off i worked the lever, and it moved in and back just fine. went to put it on, and the cylinder was out to far. I put it on andhooked up the bleeder, and used it too pull the fluid out so it would fit properly. then filled the resevior and bled it again. tokk it out and the clutch was fine till i really got on it in 3rd... then it slipped. not as bad, but it still slipped enough to piss me off. I want all that power!!! I'm going to change the handles later... I have customer bikes to work on. gotta pay the bills. any other bright ideas, please let me know. it's like the slave needs to come back just a bit...it might be the oberon.. i wish there was a way to adjust it....

it's the oberon slave cylinder.... i put the stock one back on, no more slipping...what a bunch of shit... it did help you find nuetral easy....it just wouldn't let it go enough to let the clutch fully engage.

ok shannon....

first off, change the clutch jet - that sorts neutral

second, read and use kzmille's guide to bleeding - i have found with the MPL and i assume the oberon will be the same, that the trick of taking it off the bike, getting the right angle, and compressing it works a treat - ask me how i know!

I don't think bleeding is an issue. If it wasn't bled properly it would fail to disengage properly - not be prone to slipping.

I noticed something similar last week end

I know it makes no sense BUT... once i had tightened everything yup and bled at an angle, no more problem....
