Insurance time again
Two bikes, both modified, dodgy postcode, no garage, fully comp, breakdown cover and whatever else I could wangle.
Bennetts comedy renewal 680 up from 430. Best offer was 511 after phoning.
Bike Devil (MCE) 417 for fully comp with RAC (not sure of level), gear, legal and limited time foreign cover. Interesting thing is they claim to offer zero excess. How that would work if you had to claim I don't know. Might be worth a try if you're due.

The dark world of insurance company bollocks.

I still use Carole Nash as they return the cheapest quote every year. For some, Carole Nash is one of the highest quotes they get. Every year I spend about a week negotiating with them and others to get the price down. Works.

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handle bars to the saddle.

I have used the comparison sites for cars and bikes and usually just call the existing co for the bike and hassle them for a reduction. They usually oblige to within 20-30 of the "lowest like for like" quote that I made up :)
Well starting from the premise they are overcharging anyway :)

For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.
That said when it comes to motorbikes, I like to ride side saddle with a nice frock

I've had no luck with Carole Nash, they're always about a third higher than my best quote. Something about me they don't like.Willopotomas wrote: For some, Carole Nash is one of the highest quotes they get. After phoning about I'd settled on 400 quid. I wanted to try this protected excess thing and after haggling and being punted up the line a step I got 417, so I'm happy enough.

ER6 - bars, air filter & luggage.
I declare everything and read everything twice, not that I don't trust them.

On the cancelling withing 14 days thing, I've tried this before and they wanted 30 quid admin plus the cost of a months cover.
Commiserations on the DVLA thing, I've been refused cover before for missing a few toes. It's not like they actually serve any purpose on a bloody bike.

Good point BG !
Better off declaring any mods,we all know those cheeky little insurance chappies just love having a reason to not honour your claim
(dont get me started on 4 years of premiums on my dog to have my claim dis honoured cos I once had his ears cleaned out by a vet/ failed to disclose information blah blah)

I thought that at the time though it was a while ago and I'm not sure how the law stood then. I crossed the road to Swintons and got the same cover from the same insurer without any problems.BikerGran wrote:That's actually illegal - they are discriminating against you on the basis of a disability, breaking the anti-discrimination laws.randomsquid wrote: I've been refused cover before for missing a few toes. .
