Project Falco Pt1 - Finished

#1 Post by Tonyunn » Fri Mar 16, 2012 8:19 am

I bought the bike in November and thanks to this site and the people who use it I was well aware that I had to do the side stand, battery and shock.

As I was working in the garage last night fitting the battery and Fenda Extend I had bought I was suddenly aware that the bike was ready, there is nothing more I can do, the shock gets fitted next Friday and that will be it.

I have stupidly kept a running total of the money I have spent soley becuase of the bike, this list includes the mirrors, bungs, stand etc. it has come to an eye watering £902

I have got in contact with a local bike club so I will at least be able to ride in a group, that is something I have not done before so at least I have that to look forward too.

The title said part 1 there won't be much of a part 2 unless something drops off.

Many many thanks to all who have helped sort the bike out.

We done skipper I foolishly kept a running total for a while I say foolishly because I wasn't the only one who saw it lol so I don't do that anymore
Honest love I really need an extra shock just in case :smt003
For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.
That said when it comes to motorbikes, I like to ride side saddle with a nice frock

I think we've all thought that on odd occasions !

BTW a lot of the things that we add can be "overlooked" in the expenditure - especially when bought second-hand as they can always be removed at some later date and sold for not much different to what you paid for them ..... a few parts can actually appreciate (OZ wheels, BST wheels and Ohlins bits seem to be doing so .... if only the same were true for blue spring sachs shocks .....)

and trust me, as you ride the falco more, you will think it has been worth every penny... still the best bike i have ever owned

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

I wish I'd got away with £902 on any of my bikes, sadly it was far more, in fact if I really think about it I could have bought a brand new goldwing with what i spent LOL

Well it is finally finished, because of strange oversight on my credit card (in credit) I was able to buy a pair of folding factory racing levers, they fitted in minutes and look the dogs nuts.
The fact that the levers were reduced in price meant it was fate and I had to get them.

On Sunday I also went on my first run in a group of nine othe rbikes, did 100 or so miles and the bike performed beutifully and did not look or feel out of place at all.

Gas in the tank air in the tyres now for the rest of the summer, Falco project over until winter 2013

Main thing is to enjoy it

One thing I would suggest any biker investing in is the police riders handbook - I still dip into it every week

About a tenner from amazon

I'll second that Alad. I keep mine beside my bed and pick sections to reread at random.

Not much has changed as it stands but the shock the stand the battery have all been done.

I intend to keep it looking as standard as I can as I actually like the big cans (takes all sorts) and as you say enjoy it.
