Every little helps?
Tesco Direct yesterday offered the Apple tablet computer for £49.99, a 90 per cent discount on the recommended retail price of £500.
News of the pricing blunder spread on Twitter and the shop's website crashed as shoppers went to buy the iPad Wi-fi 4G 64GB black model. Some received emails confirming their purchase.

In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

No shop has to sell its goods at a mistakenly low price, it's not legally binding. A shop, as a private premises, can refuse to serve anybody for any reason unless it becomes an issue of race/sex discrimination.

But some got emails accepting it, this surely must be binding.

If you were in a shop, picked something up,go to the till and are then told the price differs from the shelf price and you can prove the discrepancy in prices ( eg £ 3.99 on the shelf , £4.50 at till ),the item must be sold at the shelf price as the initial price was the deciding factor in your choice to purchase. Refusal to honour this is miss representation
This does not apply to items advertised outside of the premises that may have been wrongly priced by mistake
