Don't throw away the little spring.

Because you've lost the one that came with the second hand bit you've bought.
Yes you have.
I don't care how careful you think you've been keeping all the little bits together.

Also fishing in a wheelie bin with a magnet on a stick is cheaper than going to the fair. And there's less chance of getting knocked up by a pikey.

Just done similar with a valve collet. Every single one was bagged up as it was removed from the head (16v cylynder head) After replacing all the valves i found there is one collet missing. Full shed and bin search later i still don't have it. This was only last night. So a whole weekend is wasted rebuilding the engine because i have to wait till Tuesday for the order to arrive.

Ah well, may as well do some gardening instead

The really sad thing is that I'd already turned the shed and various drawers in the house upside down to find the cache of bits I'd bought over the winter.

And they were in a battered old ottoman in the bedroom :smt009

Bloody chaos pixies.
They're in league with the cats.
Mine came in the other day with the key to the gas meter box attached to the magnet on it's collar. Bastards the lot of 'em.

You have beaten up old Turk in your bedroom sounds like your getting too close to Pete ... This Turk wasn't wearing pink by any chance? :smt002
For the avoidance of doubt and for the benefit of my wife, not everything I may say here will be absolutely true I may on ocassion embellish a little for effect.
That said when it comes to motorbikes, I like to ride side saddle with a nice frock
