Firestorm stand pics??
Has anyone got pics of firestorm stands fitted to a Falco, side and rear views so i can compare stand down position and lean angle. Had mine fitted a few weeks ago and it looks like the lean is way too much, Griff assures me it's fine...I'm not sure
Will put up pics of the bike but maybe a week or two before i'm back down again
Ta

Not sure if this shows you enough but I have the firestorm stand fitted.

It made a hell of a difference for me, I was terrified that the original stand was going to topple, the new one is excellent.
I have to keep the bike almost straight to get the stand down.

One thing to watch for is the spigot for putting the stand down it is quite small and you really need to make it longer, I did this by getting a box\tube spanner and cutting a slot into one end and forcing it over the spigot, like a sleeve if you see what I mean, I then filled it with chemical metal painted it black and now I can put the stand down while sitting on the bike.

Sorry not sure what a 'spigot' is but have no probs with the stand going down, they did assure me the original Falco plate remained on!Tonyunn wrote:One thing to watch for is the spigot for putting the stand down it is quite small and you really need to make it longer, I did this by getting a box\tube spanner and cutting a slot into one end and forcing it over the spigot, like a sleeve if you see what I mean, I then filled it with chemical metal painted it black and now I can put the stand down while sitting on the bike.
The bit that comes off the main support atand to enable you to put the stand down.
Here is an earlier picture with the original stand.

You can see there is more of an angle, and yes the plate stays on the bike, all I had to do was sort out a new hole for the electrics.

I recently "bolted on" a 99 firestorm stand, as above just drilled a new hole for the switch operating dowel. It was a straight off/on job after that, now the bike leans over slightly less than with the original BUT the angle of the base is far more square with the ground and the whole thing feels far more stable. I used to carry a piece of ally, about 2" square to sit under the original stand, not the most confidence inspiring of fixes!!!!. Hope you get the angle you are after.

Old age pensioners, hah, should be shot at birth!!!.

When I fitted the Firestorm stand I thought it was leaning too much.
I followed the advice of someone on here and had a blob of weld put on the 'stop' where the stand touches at the top when in the down position.
It was only a small amount (about 1/4") but it made all the difference. Now more upright and puts less stress on the stand.
