RSVR ECU

#1 Post by GregD-UK » Tue Mar 27, 2007 7:49 pm

Hi all,

Would fitting a RSVR ECU give me the 130+ bhp that they have? Would I have to modify/adjust anything else on my bike :smt017

Just a thought.....

Warranty yeah rite!
My warranty is the clear/smoked tail lights around the corner!!

Er No is the simple answer.
I've thought about the ECU before, but never had any clear answers on this. Then again the Milles have moved on since introduction and the Falco has stood still.
The only real difference between the Falco and the early Mille is the compression ratio, which is slightly higher on the Mille and not much else, once you've done the obvious mods. Around 2000 an American site back to back tested them on a rolling road. Both were fully de-restricted first, then they fitted some "less restrictive" cans on the Falco and the difference was only about 2 or 3 bhp, (around 118 flywheel bhp). Think this was still on the standard filter, so with a K&N or something better fittted, can't be much in it. However engines do vary a bit and might have been a better than average Falco and a not too good Mille.
Since then the Milles have moved up in power and are probably quite a bit different, so 130bhp plus will need a lot more work.
Probably different compression, throttle bodies, maybe cams and valves as well plus different ECU maps etc., but never really looked any further into it.

You'd need a fair bit of work done to grab 130 at the wheel.

That thread at Renegade gives you a taste of what's needed.. see some of the dyno print comments (headwork, chip, twin cans, etc)

It's achievable but you could end up spending a lot of dosh...

That wasnt a plug for Rene btw, simply I knew where the dyno thread was!

Also note where the readings are taken from (engine and gearbox are calculated using the dyno software not physically measured, wheel is measured BUT it should be noted that not all dynos read the same, take figures as a guide only!)
