... so walk for 85mins and charge 2AA batteries .... that'll be useful when you're pinned down and your night-vision goggles start flickering ... I guess the least popular member of the platoon will be assigned the running-on-the-spot-while-being-shot-at activity .....
I can see this spawning a whole new generation of energy harvesting kit.
For the humble (??) squadie there will be the underpants with a built in wind generation facility ..... which automatically generates more power when under stressful situations. Performance is uncertain when the sh~t really hits the fan ....
There will also be a version of these energy generating underpants for the top-brass but the wind generator will be replaced by a solar panel to collect the copious amounts of sunlight they emit from that region ....

Not a bad idea, effectively trying to get "free" energy. However I can't see it ever being taken on since the returns are pretty small for what it probably cost to introduce.
Thuink they need to get their figures right too - 2AAs in 85 min is assuming that the wearer is moving constantly at 3mph, in reality troops patrolling on the ground are rarely going that fast.
