Next Summer (2012) - UK event first notice

#1 Post by Aladinsaneuk » Wed Nov 23, 2011 9:47 am

last year a few of us ventured over to the 1000 bike festival at Mallory park

we had three Falcos on the track - I rode like a puff, coggers rode swiftly and Hisnibbs rode like a demon.

Cost for the weekend was £38 and that included one parade lap and free admission and camping for 2 - bargain

next years event details can be found at http://www.vmcc.net/1000bikes/index.htm

I already know some of us are going - and there may well be a significant ridersite presence.... yes, I am plotting again

I suspect the tickets will be released for sale at the begining of december - they will sell out quite quickly - probably by mid january at the latest

I reckon this is a great meet - very friendly and a lot of fun - feel free to head over

(I have no idea on who is going to be the star riders as yet.... last year was Kenny Roberts and Agostini so the bar is set high....)

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Oh

I forgot to mention

If all goes to plan, Ridersite will have a stand there..... On the avenue of clubs

:smt001

I spoke with Tim earlier, and plans are afoot

More details to follow, but we are likely to need some volunteers for manning the stand, though that will come with free entry etc....

I will post more as we know more but - I reckon this is a great opportunity for a genuine Ridersite meet :)

I will endeavour my hardest to be there. Much turmoil at work with moves, postings and getting out plans, but will put it in the diary now and try and plan that time as free

I might even tip up on an aprilia..

I suppose a scooter with lots of mirrors slowing it down might give Alad a fighting chance of keeping up on track..

:smt002 or I could just get an RS50 and lap him..

:smt003

But back to the event. This will be a huge chance to give Aprilia RS (and RS) some media coverage, some presence at a big event and ultimately a grandstand for you to wax lyrical about your bikes to the masses... as well as being a great social event to boot.!

I'm making space in my diary as I have unfinished business with the circuit. Happy to help out on the stand provided it doesn't require much in the way of social skills. I'm also close to the event if that's usefull to anyone.

Within walking distance of where I work: http://www.premierinn.com/en/hotel/COVC ... ry-m6,jct2

Within walking distance of where I live: http://www2.travelodge.co.uk/search_and ... tel_id=455
This is a Travelodge and I think you can get some rooms for £19 per night if you book well in advance.

I mention those as I live close to Mallory - there are bound to be others not far away too

Free entry you say?

Count me in unless it clashes with the Olympics, when we hope to be out of the country.

I think the "free" comes as part of a £38 bundle.

I guess if you don't do the parade laps the other stuff probably attracts a charge

actually andy....

for those manning the marquee there are some free tickets

for those not doing that then the normal fees will apply

to quote from the admin section letter
We will provide a certain amount of space for you to put on a display (which will be confirmed in the application letter) as well as entrance wristbands and vehicle passes for you to use which will give you weekend access to the event and camping
I do not know how many passes we will get, but - there you go
