#1 Post by EEEP » Mon Mar 26, 2007 4:18 pm

Is there any particular model of GSXr sidestand that i should be looking for to replace the cottage cheese aprilia effort?

Thanks

Tell me you're not planning an addition to the "Just Relish" cheesboard .....

..... Cheddar, Brie, Wensleydale, a nice Stilton .... nope, there's something missing .... I know, Falco sidestand .....

I meant the GSXR sidestand, I thought they were all good.

BTW we sell all those cheeses, plus a few others :smt003

Hi EEEP.

Yes, there is a right and a wrong one. I remember when this mod was "new" at least one person bought the wrong one (that was before we realised there was more than one version).

I honestly can't tell you exactly which GSXRs have the right ones and certainly don't have a part number but I think yoy can get the right one from GSXR 600s, 750s and (probably) 1000s.

The ones that are OK are like the one shown here:

Are you aware of what has to be done to it to make it work? - if not, please ask.
(I really must get round to writing this up properly)

I have a (still brand new) from a 1000 racer, looks the same as the 600/750. Not sure which year but from memory 05 or 06.

Another point on the to-do list...

Mine was from a GSXR600k amd looks identical to the one in the pic above. As for getting it to fit, it took a fair bit of fettling on my part, a couple of trips to a welder/powder coater and the help of a local machinist. Still isn't quite spot on (when up it hits the exhaust), but is near enough there for now.

mine was a straight fit - though no idea which model it came off - a 12 quid ebay bargain

I used the switch from the falco stand btw - works with no problems

the kick bar did contact the exhaust - i moved it out with the aid of a birmingham screwdriver - and that made it easier to use as well :)

...... or the VTR 1000 stand bolts straight on :smt039
The ride is the reason ........ the destination is just the excuse.
